[Solved] Resolving De Dietrich Lumea MPX 20/24 Ignition Fault (Error 133) after Gas Valve Shut-off

Best answers

How can I clear error 133 on a De Dietrich Lumea MPX 20/24 boiler after the gas valve was closed and the boiler no longer heats water?

Error 133 after a gas shutoff usually means the gas supply is still locked out, so the boiler cannot ignite until the gas reducer/safety valve is re-opened and the boiler is reset [#20094036][#20207105] Open the gas valve upstream of the meter, then find the reducer near the gas meter and lift the small lever/wire until you hear a hiss; that restores gas flow [#20207105] After that, reset the boiler by holding the reset/power button for exactly 2 seconds, because longer presses did not work for several users [#19038549][#19045141][#20670736] If an external room regulator is connected and seems to block the boiler buttons, disconnect it temporarily and try the auto-calibration/reset combination by holding i/p and heater+ for 6 seconds [#18910813] If the boiler still shows no reaction after gas flow is restored and reset is done correctly, a service check is likely needed [#18831455]

Colleagues, I have a problem with the stove.
The wife turned off the gas valve under the stove in the morning, probably turned on the water several times during the day, error 133 appeared on the screen (ignition fault - visible in the picture, the screen flashes).
After unscrewing the valve, the error does not disappear, the stove does not heat the water. I was looking for a solution in the manual - furnace reset (2 seconds power off / R), in addition to holding down the i / P buttons for 6 seconds including +||| - nothing happens.
Turning off the power doesn't help either. Anyone have an idea? I'll call service tomorrow, but it would be nice to take a bath in warm water.

But what are you resetting? Nothing? No reaction, is there a reset followed by more attempts to start and again an error?

There is no reaction. That is, when you press power off, the stove turns off (but the screen continues to flash). Same error screen when turned on.
When pressing the combination of two keys, there is no reaction, the two screens visible in the pictures are constantly changing.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong though? I think I'm sticking to the manual though.
Should there be any reset confirmation?

The combination will not give you anything because the boiler is in a locked state. Reset as instructed. By holding down the power button for at least 2 sec.
After a properly performed reset, the boiler will start up again and start working.

That's what I do, pressing the power button does nothing, I held it for more than 10 seconds. To be sure, on and off the stove.
The screen just goes on and off without stopping the backlight blinking.

In case I can't read the instructions, I'm posting a link to a video showing the situation:

There was a service technician just now, reset attempts also failed, complete lack of cooperation from the boiler. Diagnosis - damaged motherboard (560 PLN plus 150 service costs).
Something else inside pokmerał, blew, disconnected the wires and reconnected and - surprisingly - the stove started ...
I'm supposed to watch, he deleted 150.

    Hello
I'm bumping this topic because I have the same problem. After turning off the gas, error E133 appeared. I have a wired room thermostat connected to the furnace. After connecting the thermostat, the buttons on the stove did not work from the beginning and the installer said that I set everything in the thermostat. Unfortunately, therefore, the reset button on the stove does not work (I press it for 2 seconds - it does not work, nor does it last longer).
I used the reset function on the thermostat, which reset the settings on the thermostat and not the stove ...
Is there any other way to reset the furnace?

Try turning on the auto calibration function by holding the i/p and heater+ buttons together for 6 seconds.
If the external regulator "blocked" your buttons (it shouldn't) - disconnect it for a while. For the duration of auto calibration and reset. It is under the plate flap on the M2 strip. Just disconnect the boiler first.

He trained you nicely. I had the same case a few ms ago, today it happened again ..... The installer only passed gas to vent the furnace. Just enough. And it works.

    Hello everyone!

I'm getting on topic too. I have the same error and I can't reset the boiler either. Exactly no reaction of the boiler as in the previously linked youtube video. Has anyone figured out how to do it without a service technician?
    Thanks in advance.

And was the reset performed according to the instructions, i.e. for 2 seconds or rather for 20 as in the video?

It seemed to me that according to the instructions, i.e. for 2 seconds. However, after your suggestion, I did it with special attention to timing. And we did it!
A reset has taken place and the boiler has started working.
    Thank you for your help!

We hold reset = 2s and in principle it works.

Problem 133 occurs when the gas pressure drops after closing the gas valve upstream of the regulator. After opening the valve, the reducer in front of the gas meter is still blocked and resetting the stove does nothing. There is simply no gas going to the stove. Just unlock the reducer.
The small wire should be lifted up until you hear a hiss. The wire falls freely and then you can reset the stove.
    Regards

If you have a gas meter in a box by the fence, there is a reducer next to this meter.
This reducer automatically closes the safety valve if the gas pressure in the pipe between the meter and the furnace drops.
Lack of gas upstream of the stove causes the stove to display error 133.
    Try the following:
    1. Open the gas valve in front of the gas meter (Probably in the metal box in front of the shack).
    2. Make sure that the installation is tight and if so...
    3. Lift up the small lever on the reducer.
    4. When you hear a hiss, the gas will enter the pipe and the safety valve will be opened.
    5. Reset the stove.
    Good luck

FAQ

TL;DR: De Dietrich Lumea MPX 20/24 error E133 often clears with a precise 2‑second reset; "Reset as instructed… at least 2 sec." Perform the correct reset and the boiler restarts. [Elektroda, zales.vip, post #18830605]

Why it matters: This helps owners of this model fix E133 fast and avoid avoidable service costs.

Quick Facts

What does error E133 mean on the Lumea MPX 20/24?

E133 indicates ignition failed because gas is not reaching the boiler. A tripped reducer near the meter can block gas after a pressure drop. Unlock the reducer, then reset the boiler. [Elektroda, marcin7sobiech, post #20207105]

How do I perform the correct E133 reset?

Press and hold the boiler’s power button for 2 seconds. Release and allow the restart attempt. "By holding down the power button for at least 2 sec." [Elektroda, zales.vip, post #18830605]

My reset isnt workingcould timing be the issue?

Yes. Users report success when holding for a precise 2 seconds. Focusing on exact timing triggered the reset and restored operation. [Elektroda, dbst, post #19038549]

How do I unlock the gas reducer after a shut-off?

This opens the safety valve so gas flows again.
  1. Confirm the upstream meter valve is open and the installation is tight.
  2. Lift the small lever on the reducer until you hear a hiss.
  3. After gas flows, perform the boiler reset. [Elektroda, marcin7sobiech, post #20207105]

I reopened the gas valve, but E133 persistswhy?

The meter‑side reducer may stay locked after a pressure drop. Until you lift its lever to reset it, no gas reaches the boiler and resets won’t help. [Elektroda, marcin7sobiech, post #20094036]

Do room thermostats sometimes disable the boilers buttons?

They shouldn’t. If buttons seem blocked, temporarily disconnect the external regulator/thermostat at the M2 strip with power off. Then run auto calibration and reset. [Elektroda, zales.vip, post #18910813]

Can I reset the boiler from the room thermostat?

No. Using the thermostat’s reset only resets the thermostat. The boiler still requires its own panel reset or equivalent action. [Elektroda, Branchy, post #18910546]

Is a motherboard replacement usually necessary for E133?

Not always. One case was quoted 560 PLN for the board plus 150 PLN service, but reconnecting internal wiring restored operation. Try simple checks first. [Elektroda, lukg86, post #18831455]

Could venting the gas line resolve E133 after shut-off?

Yes, if air remained in the line. An installer briefly passed gas to purge the boiler, and it worked. Ask a qualified person to handle purging. [Elektroda, cielok123, post #18938891]

Are dirty ignition electrodes a possible cause of E133?

Possibly. A commenter suggested the technician simply cleaned the electrodes and the boiler ran. Ask service to inspect and clean them. [Elektroda, ROWE, post #18834612]

Why does my display blink and alternate screens with E133?

That symptom matched E133 in a reported case after a gas shut‑off. The unit flashed and wouldn’t heat water until reset and gas flow returned. [Elektroda, lukg86, post #18830453]

How do I run auto calibration on a Lumea MPX?

Hold the i/p and heater+ buttons together for 6 seconds. If a connected thermostat blocks buttons, disconnect it at M2 first with power off, then calibrate and reset. [Elektroda, zales.vip, post #18910813]

What should I try if a 2-second reset still does nothing?

Turn off power and have a tech reseat internal connectors. In one case, disconnecting and reconnecting wires brought the boiler back without parts. [Elektroda, lukg86, post #18831455]
