    Hello,

I got the console from a friend, I use it only a few times, I want to convert it to the data that is needed in the photos below:
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry

Do I have to take kynar from Mobo or is it possible from FMCB?

    Thanks for any info.

You need to check what FW you have first:
    https://konsole.cdrinfo.pl/artykuly/PS2-FreeMCBoot-ESR/strona7.php
Although these newer FMCBs sometimes also run at a higher FW.
Or find someone who has the latest version of FMCB to test.
Before installing the modbo, it is worth checking non-invasive methods first, especially since FMCB offers, in the event of drive damage, the ability to launch games from a USB memory stick and over the network, for example from a network drive, which works much faster than USB and then you can use USB peripherals, which is impossible in the case of memory.

This console has ROMVER 2.30 because it has datacode 2B:
    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/playstation-2-identification-tool.199/#post-147059 .

With ROMVER 2.30 or higher FMCB will not start automatically on startup,
no matter if you have the latest FMCB (1.966) or ver 1.8b.

FMCB can currently be run on any console, unfortunately it will not run automatically on every console.
I posted some more info on this here:
    https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3738398.html#18986080 .
    Additionally, where to get FMCB:
    https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic1267820.html#18986229 .

    So in a nutshell.
Fortuna -> FORTUNA FMCB Launcher -> FMCB.
A memory card is required for this.

Well, that's really just a mod.
It's a bit bad because in the event of a laser failure, finding a decent replacement that will not fail soon is almost a miracle.
Unless you want to combine both methods and mount the modbo and use it to launch FCMB from the disc to be able to load games from USB or network.

    A mental shortcut.
It's generally about the need to use a hardmod.
Well, possibly Swap Magic, but as I mentioned, there may be problems with the laser later.
For a friend, I once made a card from FCMB to SCPH-70004, mainly because the laser was already starting to fail and the console had never been disassembled and it was a pity to "deflower" it.

I still don't understand why hardmod\modchip should be used?

After all, I wrote about something like Fortuna.
And then you can run FMCB.

FreeDVDBoot will work on this console.
The only problem that can arise is when we have a bad recorder or some "mean" discs,
and the console will not be able to load such a disc.

To start doing anything with a clean console, I recommend downloading "All PS2 Slims - English language.iso":
    https://github.com/CTurt/FreeDVDBoot/tree/master/PREBUILT%20ISOs .
Then the image "burn" to DVD-R.
Set the language to English in the console options.

Thanks for the information. I'm getting to work on PS2

Due to the fact that I introduced a bit of chaos, I'll try to sort it out a bit.

    1. First I would download "All PS2 Slims - English language.iso":
    https://github.com/CTurt/FreeDVDBoot/tree/master/PREBUILT%20ISOs .
The image (ISO) is best "burned" to a DVD-R disc.
In the console options, set the language to English (English), insert the disc and it should start wLaunchELF.

    2. Now we have a choice.
    - Or pure (without any additional software) FMCB:
    https://sites.google.com/view/ysai187/home/projects/fmcbfhdb#h.p_e31_CKrrgS5f .

    - Or the so-called FMCB (noobie package) package for beginners (with OPL, GSM...):
    https://forum.cdrinfo.pl/f106/ps2-pakiet-dla-poczatkujacych-fmcb-fhdb-97591/ ,
    https://www.psx-place.com/resources/free-memory-card-boot-fmcb-free-harddisk-drive-boot-fhdb.712/ .

    3. Download "FORTUNA_rev2.7z" from the attachment.

    4. Unpack both archives (FMCBFortuna), put all the files on a USB drive.

    5. Connect to PS2.
With wLaunchELF running, we go to "mass:/".
We search for "FMCBInstaller.elf" and run it.
    We choose the normal installation.
If we have two memory cards, we can choose where we want to install the FMCB (I would suggest the second memory card).
After the installation is complete, restart the console.
For the time being, FMCB will not "surprise".

    6. Restart wLaunchELF from the CD.
Copy the entire "FORTUNA" folder (not just the contents).
To do this, press R1 and select "Copy".

We "push" this folder on the memory card (mc0:/ , mc1:/).
Preferably the one where FMCB is already there.
To do this, press R1 and select "Paste".

    7. Turn off the consoles.
We take out the CD and the USB drive.

    8. We enter the memory card on which we copied and uploaded Fortuna.

We should have this icon first:
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry

    9. Now we leave here completely by pressing "O" twice.
As if we would like to return to "Brewser".

    10. FMCB should surprise.

EDIT: A newer version of the FMCB launcher is available here:
    https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3743708-30.html#19072965 .

You can describe what you did, because a post like "I did everything as in the manual" is similar to:
    - What's the problem?
    - Doesn't work.

I did as per your description. I sucked in FMCB and put Fortune on the card, fired from DVD inLaunchELF, entered the FMCB directory and installed Fortuna. And so to the very end. I have the status on the card as in the picture but after reboot it only goes to the start screen. And it probably shouldn't be.

But you don't have to restart the console only from the memory cards screen go back to the main menu by pressing "O" twice.
And this way you will have to run FCMB every time, not like in earlier versions of the console that FCMB is turned on automatically at startup.

Could you send me a photo of the memory card when you enter it from Browser.
    E.g. something like this:
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry

EDIT: Sorry, something was wrong with the date.
In order for the fortune to work, it must have the highest date to load as the first icon.

Please unzip the attachment. One file "FORTUNA.psu" will be created.
Please copy this file to pendrive.
Run wLe (Free DVD boot) from the CD.
We delete the previously created FORTUNA folders on the memory card (the entire folder, not just the contents).

    We go to mass:/
    Select "FORTUNA.psu": R1 -> Copy
We go to the memory card (mc0:. mc1 :) .
    Press: R1 -> psuPastie.
We should create a FORTUNA folder with the date ~2090.

You can turn off the consoles, remove the disc and pen drive.
We turn on the consoles and try to initialize Fortune.
When entering the memory card from the Browser level, there is no need for all game icons to load.
The first one is the most important:
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry
Now we press "O" twice and the exploit should initialize.

    hey,

when I put it *.psu, I have this on the card:

On the card put: R1 -> psuPaste.
In this case, the FORTUNA folder should be created.

    No: R1 -> Paste.
In this (wrong) case you are not "unpacking FORTUNA.psu".

Delete "FORTUNA.psu" from the memory card (mc0:/, mc1:/).

    That is, from the beginning.
    You mark\Hover on "FORTUNA.psu" with mass:/ - R1 -> Copy
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry
You go into one of the memory cards (mc0:/, mc1:/), then R1 -> psuPaste

I did so. After exiting to the main screen something like appeared in the upper left corner what numbers and white letters but after that it returns back to the card.

The original 8Mb, can someone tell me how to format the card to a virgin and install what you need from the beginning. :)

    Unzip the attachment.
Copy "BOOT.ELF" from the USB drive (R1 -> Copy) to the FORTUNA directory (R1 -> Paste) on the memory card (mc?:/).
This will overwrite the previous "BOOT.ELF" file.

The currently uploaded "BOOT.ELF" file is an earlier version of the same launcher.
However, there is a screen that shows whether the FMCB has been found.

When it detects FMCB, it will show the following screen:
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry
    Launching FMCB from...

If only a fortune is this:
PS2 SCPH-90004 Conversion: Kynar Mod vs FMCB - User's Photos & Console Adaptation Inquiry
    FORTUNE...

Write me which screen you saw and whether you managed to run FMCB.

So it's like the console restarted?

When it throws you back to the memory cards, you have something like this:

What happens when you return ("O") to the home screen now?
Just don't go into the memory card.

You have everything back to the old way:

Not that I'm throwing some crap.
    I got everything from here:
    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/fortuna-fmcb-launcher-by-vtstech.27565/ .

Just wondering if this has been tested on a PS2 emulator,
    or on real hardware, but...

    There is one more launcher:
    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/hwcs-osdsys-launcher.30258/ .

It only supports memory card in the 1st slot (mc0:/).

    Download "HWC-OSDSYS_Launcher_v1.1.rar" from the attachment.
    Unpack.
After unpacking, you should have three folders:
    - ASIA
    - EUR
    - USA

From the EUR directory, copy "BOOT.ELF" to the USB drive.
Run wLaunchELF, select and copy "BOOT.ELF" (R1 -> Copy).
Paste the file on the memory card to the FORTUNA folder (R1 -> Paste).

Initialize FORTUNE and see if anything changes.
If it "kicks" you to the memory card again, try to go back to the main screen.

Can you provide detailed photos of the front and back of your card?
Unless you could also disassemble it and post a picture of the board.
It is possible that you have a counterfeit card and therefore problems with proper operation, I also have one fake card and FCMB does not work on it.
Counterfeits can be recognized by a few details on the housing and have a different board than the originals.

Original on the left, fake on the right.
    Front
The counterfeit has other embossing and the print itself is of poor quality

Here the differences can be clearly seen, especially the "glut" instead of the integrated circuit.

@bubu1769 you are right, there may be problems with FMCB and aftermarket memory cards.

However, as I read some comments under the article, there may be something wrong with this first launcher:
    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/fortuna-fmcb-launcher-by-vtstech.27565/page-2#comments .
Plus, I don't know how it was all tested...

The second launcher I gave should work, but unfortunately it only supports the memory card in the first slot (mc0:/).
I found a version that supports both memory cards:
    https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3743708-30.html#19072965 .
Launcher has been tested on real hardware.
