    Hi,

I recently moved to a new apartment and for some reason the router did not display the Wi-Fi network, although the indicator indicated that the network was being propagated.

I decided to check if only my smartphone has a problem, but not only because the new roommate also - his phone can't see Wi-Fi either. I checked my laptop and the problem was there as well.

I rebooted the router while still watching the available networks and there was a wifi network available for about half a minute but then it disappeared.

I did a factory reset according to the dedicated instructions and the problem is still the same.

So I decided to check the settings of the router. I connected the laptop with a cable to the router and the internet works fine, but I can't log in to the administration panel with the address provided by the manufacturer, i.e. "http://192.168.0.1/,". Tried through firefox and explorer but no difference - doesn't work.

What could it be? Attached is the cmd data from the ipconfig /all command

I'm about to download another browser and look deep in the manufacturer's website, but I doubt that I will dig anything up.

I will add that the address appearing in the cmd "mmp.pl" is not the address of Multimedia, but some law firm.

I am asking you for help.

    Router model: TG2492S
    Internet Provider: Multimedia
    Operating System: Windows 10 64bit

You enter the address correctly, but small BUT - your equipment or the operator's?

MM is currently Vectra (Vectra bought MM) and MM as such, does not give access to the GUI in its equipment to retailers.
Maybe the modem got a software update and it's over.
In Vectra, access to the modem is only here:

I don't know, I have to ask the owners. If I'm going to call them, should I ask them some additional questions, or just whether they have a router from Multimedia?

I don't quite understand, can you be more specific? :)

If they have access to it, they will give me what I talked to them earlier, because I was expecting some kind of login.

Who will give you? Owners? They don't have it - the possibility of logging in is blocked by the operator and only he can remotely change the router settings - now do you understand?

Now yes. I'll give them a call then and let them know how things turned out.

So there are already 2 people and an unspecified number of devices connected to this internet (?)
Here's a tip from the operator:
"Can I use the Internet on two computers?

A standard Internet contract provides for the connection of one computer to the network. To be able to use more computers, you need to order the Mega Wireless Multimedia Network (MBSM) service. This service enables not only signal distribution (up to 29 computers), but also wireless signal transmission within the apartment, thanks to WiFi technology. This is especially beneficial when we use a laptop, tablet or other wireless device. The service can be activated at your local Customer Service Office, a list of Local Service Centers is available here. It is also possible to place an order via the Operator's hotline at 244 244 244.
Fees related to the use of the Mega Wireless Multimedia Network are specified in the online price list at www.multimedia.pl"
So in this case - there is no active wifi, you can't connect more devices at the same time and it doesn't matter if it's wired or via wifi.
Here is the instruction on how to do it after logging into the customer portal, when the wifi will be active:

Thanks for your help in guiding me to the source of the problem and its solution.

An interesting fact is that the router was configured by default by the provider and generated a completely new Wi-Fi (new name), and a different password was needed than from the sticker.

The roommate I contacted gave me the login details and everything works as it should.

    I close the topic.

Topic summary

✨ The user experienced issues with their Arris router, specifically an inability to access the administration panel and a disappearing Wi-Fi network. After moving to a new apartment, the router's Wi-Fi network was not visible on multiple devices despite the indicator showing activity. A factory reset did not resolve the issue, and attempts to log into the router's admin panel via the standard IP address were unsuccessful. Responses indicated that the router may be managed remotely by the internet service provider, Vectra, which restricts user access to the settings. The user later discovered that the router had been configured by the provider with a new Wi-Fi name and password, which resolved the connectivity issues.

FAQ

TL;DR: If your TG2492S Wi‑Fi vanishes and 192.168.0.1 is blocked, Vectra/MM disabled Wi‑Fi ("there is no active WiFi"); the service, when enabled, supports "up to 29 computers." Fix it through operator changes via eBOK. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #19033456] Why it matters: This FAQ helps renters and Vectra/Multimedia users fix missing Wi‑Fi and blocked admin access on Arris TG2492S.

Quick Facts

Why can’t I open 192.168.0.1 on my Arris TG2492S from Vectra/Multimedia?

Your ISP blocks local login on this operator‑managed router. As an expert noted, "the possibility of logging in is blocked by the operator," and they change settings remotely. Use the customer channel instead of the router GUI. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #19033220]

Why did my Wi‑Fi SSID appear briefly after reboot, then vanish?

Your account likely lacks the paid Wi‑Fi service, so the operator keeps Wi‑Fi inactive. The thread confirms "there is no active WiFi" when the service isn’t enabled. Reboots won’t permanently restore broadcast without activation. Ask the account holder to enable Wi‑Fi. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #19033456]

How do I enable Wi‑Fi on a Vectra/Multimedia router?

Activate the Multimedia/Vectra Wi‑Fi service (MBSM) on the account. The operator then remotely enables Wi‑Fi and provisions SSID and password. You can order it via the customer portal or hotline. After activation, follow the provider’s instructions to connect devices. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #19033456]

How can I manage settings if local admin is blocked?

Use Vectra’s eBOK customer portal. The operator restricts device management and notes "access to the modem is only here." Customers handle changes through the portal or support, not the 192.168.0.1 interface. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #19033158]

What should I ask the landlord or account holder to do?

Ask if the Wi‑Fi service is purchased and active. If it isn’t, request that they order or enable it. Without that service on the account, Wi‑Fi remains disabled even if the router’s Wi‑Fi light is on. [Elektroda, sosarek, post #19033234]

Why is the Wi‑Fi name or password different from the sticker?

The provider can remotely reconfigure the router. In the resolved case, it "generated a completely new Wi‑Fi" and required a different password than the sticker. Use the credentials provisioned in the customer portal or by support. [Elektroda, Siedmiornica, post #19033620]

Will a factory reset fix missing Wi‑Fi or admin access?

No. In this case, a full reset didn’t restore Wi‑Fi or enable the admin GUI. The issue persisted until the operator handled configuration on the account. Contact the account holder or provider to resolve it. [Elektroda, Siedmiornica, post #19033139]

Can I connect more than one device without buying extra service?

No. The standard contract allows one computer. Multimedia’s MBSM enables distribution to more devices, supporting up to 29 computers per account. Order MBSM if you need multi‑device Wi‑Fi. "This service enables ... up to 29 computers." [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #19033456]

How do I quickly troubleshoot this “Wi‑Fi disappeared” issue?

Do this:
  1. Verify that Wi‑Fi (MBSM) is active on the account in the customer portal.
  2. Request activation if absent; the operator will enable Wi‑Fi remotely.
  3. Use the new SSID and password provisioned by the provider to reconnect devices. [Elektroda, KOCUREK1970, post #19033456]

Do I need the account holder’s eBOK credentials?

Yes, if you are not the subscriber. In the thread, the roommate shared the login, the provider had set a new SSID and password, and everything worked afterward. Coordinate with the account holder to proceed. [Elektroda, Siedmiornica, post #19033620]

Why does the Wi‑Fi light show on the router but no network is visible?

The indicator can be lit while Wi‑Fi stays disabled at the account level. The case showed the Wi‑Fi LED on, but devices couldn’t see the SSID. That points to operator configuration, not a local hardware fault. [Elektroda, Siedmiornica, post #19033139]

Is wired Internet expected to work while Wi‑Fi is disabled?

Yes. The laptop worked over Ethernet even when Wi‑Fi wasn’t visible. That behavior suggests the connection is active, but Wi‑Fi service is disabled. Proceed through the provider to enable wireless. [Elektroda, Siedmiornica, post #19033139]
