    Hello everyone.
I looked through most of the posts on this topic and found no answer to my problem. I have skode felicje from 1996. For about 6 years everything was ok but then akus fell. After replacing the brushes in the alternator broke and now there is a raid on the terminals and there are problems with the alternator. Recently, it has been repaired and the entire middle of the alternator + rectifier bridge has been replaced. The problem is that the battery still has a white coating on the terminals, although the terminals are brand new. Why is this raid formed? Could this affect battery charging and alternator health?
Thanks in advance everyone for the answers!

from my experience, a raid on the clamps was formed when the clamps did not adhere very accurately to the battery posts .. tighten them neat and see if the posts are damaged, if you need to pour the pole ... I swear when she did not connect well, so I think it will be it ..
    greetings

I noticed a sudden formation of white-green "blooms" when the connection between the battery plug and its housing was unsealed; The acid vapors released during charging react with the clamp material (brass) and form "mushrooms". This is partially recommended by covering the joint with technical petroleum jelly. However, I have to dispel a myth: recently I heard that technical petroleum jelly is called so because it conducts electricity, therefore the pin and clamp are lubricated before connection. :D This was proved recently by my technically educated neighbor ...

It seems to me that the clamps are properly mounted, moreover, the original clamps had a notch in some place where you could see the battery pin. So is this the only cause of the raid?

It helps to carve out holes in a piece of felt and put on the + cells, - put the clamps on the battery and let a few drops of engine oil (IT WORKS)

hmmmm ... how would it work ... anyway, I would like a more detailed description.

I confirm this way with felt. The holes in the felt washers must fit snugly to the battery posts (they must not be too loose). I have been using this method for many years and my clamps are always clean. It really works.
Felt washers are placed on the battery terminals under the clamps.

hello, your so-called the efflorescence on the clamps is caused by leaky battery posts. probably it is some non-proprietary mercet battery, so it is their factory defect. you will not do anything about it. felt will help in 60%, but after some time they will oxidize the clamps.
    clean 1 * a month
seal the battery post with silicone and felt and a little copper grease on the surface of the clamp (tightly all over the area)
replace the battery. for some brand name. bosch. maintenance-free or other centers (they are quite tight), I recommend they are expensive, but for 5 years you forget about the battery. regulator, winding) try to control this "bloom" because you will not earn for alternators: d

Check the charging voltage and battery level. If it is too low, the acid "comes out of the battery".
The cause of poor charging can be a poorly tensioned belt, frequent engine start + lights, slacked regulator, poor connections, etc.
In addition, an undercharged battery will die very quickly.
If necessary (when the alternator does not keep charging), the battery from the rectifier should be recharged.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting battery terminal corrosion issues in a 1996 Skoda Felicja. The user reports persistent white coating on battery terminals despite replacing the alternator and terminals. Responses suggest that poor connections, leaky battery posts, and acid vapors during charging may cause the corrosion. Recommendations include ensuring tight connections, using felt washers under clamps, applying petroleum jelly or copper grease, and sealing battery posts with silicone. Additionally, checking the charging voltage and battery condition is advised to prevent further issues.
