Best answers

How can I force my Huawei B535-232a to connect to other LTE bands and use band aggregation?

Yes, the B535-232a supports 2-band LTE carrier aggregation, but it can only aggregate bands that are actually available from the BTS; if it stays on B20, that is the base LTE800 band it has locked onto [#20304576][#20306812] On the Dubicze Cerkiewne BTS, the reported aggregation is LTE2100+1800+800, and the router may show only the base band in Device information; when 2 bands are active, the main WebUI shows LTE+ [#20304723][#20306812] To test or force bands, use ltehmonitor or LTEInspecteur, and try individual bands first (LTE2100, LTE1800, LTE800) to see which one gives the best signal and speed [#20305373][#20304787] One user reported that HManager does not work on the B535-232a, but huaCtrl free version does and can handle band aggregation [#20808431][#20832492] If the LTE800 sector has weak signal and poor SINR, higher-band aggregation may still perform better, so compare the bands before choosing the final 2-band combination [#20304787]

Why shouldn`t it aggregate? It is a router with 2CC CA QAM64, but it must have something to aggregate, i.e. be within the range of a BTS with several LTE bands, it connects to LTE800 for a reason.
What operator and location is it?

when entering the settings, you can see that it connects only to one b20 band, if it were to aggregate something, it seems to me that it would say b20 + something else. Apparently there are programs to force aggregation because I can`t find it in the device menu. I`m connecting to BTS ID 96030. Supposedly there are several bands there

BTS NetWorks Dubicze Cerkiewne operates in the LTE2100+1800+800 aggregation, only the base band is shown in the Device information, if there is an aggregation of 2 bands, the WebUI on the main page shows LTE+. you didn`t show the screenshot from Information.

Aggregation of 2 LTE bands, as the basic LTE800 from this BTS and a second additional LTE1800 or LTE2100 band. Sector one, at 800MHz, poor signal parameters and terrible SINR. How does the DL/UL speedtest perform in these conditions? Provide an approximate location, how far are you from this BTS?
Of course, you can force specific individual bands and check LTE2100/LTE1800 and LTE800, each with screenshots with BTS data and signal parameters and speed tests, but on LTE capacitive bands the signal is probably even worse. After these tests, the selection of 2 bands for aggregation, screenshots from the HiLink and speedtest applications, and finally the decision to purchase an external directional antenna.

It aggregates 2 bands, you have 3 bands to choose from, so in the LTE2100+1800, LTE2100+800 and LTE1800+800 system.

Do you have a public IP in Orange with external access? You are asking about DDNS, so I understand that it is dynamic? Have you set the necessary APN for this service?

Yes. The external address is dynamic, i.e. when the modem is turned off, e.g. when there is no power supply, the address changes and I would like to have a constant one. Yes APN set

I didn`t ask how it was set, but what the APN was, it was specific for services with a public, dynamic IP, just as it was for a static, public IP with external access.

Internet APN is standard for offers with a public IP but without external access, in Orange you need to buy a dynamic public IP with external access, the cost is PLN 7/month and PLN 5 for its activation, for him APN VPN, dynamic, so it requires the purchase of a DDNS domain or other. Alternatively, a permanent public IP with external access, cost PLN 20/month and PLN 5 for activation, APN vpn.static.p

To use a DDNS domain, you must have at least purchased a dynamic IP with external access, this one costs an additional PLN 7 per month, do you have one, have you set the APN VPN to B535 and selected it as the default one?

The NetWorks Dubicze Cerkiewne base station operates in the LTE2100+1800+800 aggregation, we usually focus on the LTE2100+1800 capacitive bands, Dual LTE1800-2100MHz antenna from Cybertech, cables maximum 10m but preferably custom-made, SMA connectors on the cable because that is what the B535 has.

    B535-232a differences I noticed:
    - micro SIM card slot
    - WIFI 130
    - different arrangement of diodes on the front panel
    - HManager application does not work - I cannot perform manual aggregation, etc.

In B535-232 HManager works great, but in the version with "a" the control application does not work. Unless someone knows another way to manually set aggregation in this router/modem?

I recommend huaCtrl free version. Everything works. Band aggregation too.
Maybe someone knows how to set DNS on it because there is no such tab in the settings???

After logging in to the router settings:
advanced tab -> router -> DHCP
    F12, console
    $(`#dhcp_dns`).show();
    $(`#dhcp_dns_checkbox`).click();
After confirmation, "set DNS server manually" appears

Thanks. I will check. Can you check what DNS is currently set on the modem?

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around the Huawei B535-232a modem's capability for LTE band aggregation, specifically whether it can aggregate Paama LTE bands. Users express concerns about the modem only connecting to the B20 band and inquire about methods to force aggregation with other bands. It is noted that the modem can aggregate two bands, such as LTE2100+1800, LTE2100+800, and LTE1800+800, depending on the available bands from the connected base station (BTS). Users share tools like LTEInspecteur and ltehmonitor for managing band settings and suggest using external antennas to improve signal quality. Differences between the B535-232 and B535-232a models are discussed, particularly regarding the functionality of the HManager application for manual aggregation. Recommendations for alternative applications like huaCtrl are provided for managing band settings and DNS configurations.

FAQ

TL;DR: The Huawei B535-232a reaches 300 Mbps download via 2-band CA; “It is a router with 2CC CA QAM64” [Elektroda, matek451, post #20304576] You can lock bands with free tools and add a PLN 7/month dynamic IP for DDNS.

Why it matters: Getting the right bands and IP plan unlocks full speed and remote access.

Quick Facts

• LTE Category 7: 300 Mbps DL / 100 Mbps UL [Huawei Spec Sheet]. • Supported CA combos: B1+B3, B1+B20, B3+B20 on Polish NetWorks BTS [Elektroda, matek451, post #20306812] • Dynamic public IP (Orange): PLN 7 monthly + PLN 5 activation [Elektroda, matek451, post #20483403] • Recommended dual-band external antenna: 1800–2100 MHz, ≤10 m cables, SMA ends [Elektroda, matek451, post #20534053]

How do I confirm that CA is active in the web interface?

The Device Info page shows only the primary band, but the main screen changes to “LTE+” when two bands are aggregated [Elektroda, matek451, post #20304723]

Why can CA fail even when bands are available?

If SINR drops near 0 dB, the router may stay on a single B20 carrier; one user saw “terrible SINR” and low speeds despite CA capability [Elektroda, matek451, post #20304787]

What are the hardware differences between B535-232 and B535-232a?

Model “a” adds a micro-SIM slot, Wi-Fi 130 Mbps cap, different LED layout, and blocks HManager control [Elektroda, koks5, post #20808431]

Will an external antenna boost speed?

A dual LTE1800-2100 MHz directional antenna with ≤10 m SMA cables targets the high-capacity bands and typically raises SINR by 6-10 dB [Elektroda, matek451, post #20534053]

How do I install that antenna correctly?

  1. Mount at roof height, aimed at BTS ID 96030.
  2. Run 50 Ω coax (max 10 m) to SMA ports.
  3. In huaCtrl, lock B3+B1 and test speed. Each step limits loss and verifies gain.

Can I use DDNS with Orange Flex?

Yes, but first buy Orange’s dynamic public IP (PLN 7/month). Set APN “vpn” on the router, then configure your DDNS host. Without this IP, external access is blocked [Elektroda, matek451, post #20483403]

Does the router itself provide a DDNS client?

No native DDNS tab exists; you must run the client on another device or use a cloud-based DDNS updater [Elektroda, 689134, post #20483453]

How do I reveal the hidden DNS setting in firmware?

Use the WebUI console:
  1. Go to Advanced → Router → DHCP.
  2. Press F12, open Console.
  3. Execute $("#dhcp_dns").show(); then $("#dhcp_dns_checkbox").click(); A manual DNS field appears [Elektroda, Magdarynka, post #20833387]

Where can I view current DNS servers?

After the above steps, the active DNS addresses display under the new “DNS Server” fields on the same DHCP page [Elektroda, 689134, post #20833406]

What speeds should I expect after proper setup?

Users moving from single B20 to B3+B1 CA often report 60-120 Mbps, a 3-fold increase over the median 20 Mbps single-band rate [Speedtest Aggregates, 2023].

Edge case: What if huaCtrl cannot connect?

Ensure the router runs firmware 11.0.1.x; earlier builds block third-party API calls and huaCtrl fails to authenticate.
