Good morning, hello colleagues and I’m asking for help, I have Home Office from T-Mobile, odu shows 4G coverage on the application, it is connected to the Internet, but on the idu router the diode is flashing all the time and there is no Internet connection, I have already reset everything and still nothing, the diode is blinking when I connected the second one connects the same antenna immediately. Is there any way to upload new software to Odu, T Mobile they claim that there is mechanical damage, the Ethernet cable clips are broken and they do not take into account complaints, they want PLN 1,700 for the repair, i.e. replacement with a new one at my expense, please help

But specifically o is damaged, the ODU has an Ethernet port, you plug the cable from the IDU into it, you checked whether the connection works, skip the ODU and plug the Ethernet cable directly to the computer and on the other side to the ODU.

If on the Ethernet card you have a connection status of the type: Ethernet cable not connected, it means that the port in the ODU is damaged as T-Mobile informed you.

When I go through the application, it says that Internet access is connected, but it is possible that the socket is damaged, which is why it does not send data to the computer or to the ID. Do you know if it can be repaired?

This Ethernet cable also provides POE power to the external modem, so theoretically this power supply may work and the modem will connect to the Internet, but if the PINS in the Ethernet connector are damaged, data transmission to the IDU or Ethernet card in the computer may not work, I also show access to 5G/4G these diodes at the connector and next to the power supply. The power one and one of the 5G or LTE lights are on, what colors? Have you tried with a different Ethernet cable?

Simple and interlaced, nothing helped, when I returned it to T-Mobile, it said it was mechanically damaged and they wouldn't replace it with a new one, and it's been like that since I received it, so I have to pay and have it go wrong, that's why I'm looking for a solution myself, but I'll probably have to take it to some service center.

Yes, the only thing I know about it is that T-Mobile is reluctant to repair or replace it, so what should I do, the device doesn’t work, if I repair it, I lose the manufacturer’s warranty in installments and I pay off the device anyway, I don’t sell it, I just want to repair it

You need to look for a service that will replace the damaged RJ45 port with a functional one, it won`t be easy because practically no one does it. And the equipment is problematic anyway, I have it at home, strange configuration, low antenna gain. In addition, it`s a weak IDU router, exotic. No Bridge mode on the ODU, no signal diagnostics, overall a failure compared to the 5G CPE from ZTE, i.e. MC7010. He didn`t make a career, the only advantage is his low costs at T-Mobile.

If it's been like this since you received it, why didn't you report it straight away? I had problems with the SIM card not being detected and they replaced the whole ODU for me in a few days for free.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around issues with a T-Mobile Home Office setup, specifically concerning the ODU (Outdoor Unit) showing 4G coverage but failing to provide an internet connection. The user reports that the IDU (Indoor Unit) router's diode is continuously flashing, indicating a problem. Despite resetting the devices, the issue persists, and T-Mobile claims mechanical damage to the Ethernet port, demanding a high repair fee. Various suggestions are made, including checking the Ethernet connection directly to the computer, the possibility of damaged pins in the Ethernet connector, and the need for a service to replace the RJ45 port. The user expresses frustration over T-Mobile's reluctance to assist and considers seeking third-party repair options while being cautious about voiding the warranty.

FAQ

TL;DR: 1 Ethernet cable carries PoE and data; "if the PINS in the Ethernet connector are damaged, data transmission may not work." Skip firmware fixes, test a direct PC link, and treat it as hardware first. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469556]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps T‑Mobile 5G Home Office users diagnose ODU/IDU "connected but no internet" issues and decide when repair or swap beats a firmware chase.

Quick Facts

How do I quickly diagnose “ODU shows 4G, IDU blinks, no internet”?

Diagnose the Ethernet link first, not firmware. 1. Ensure the ODU is powered. 2. Connect a PC directly to the ODU, bypassing the IDU. 3. If the OS shows “Ethernet cable not connected,” the ODU Ethernet port is damaged. That is a hardware fault, not a software issue. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469443]

Can uploading new software/firmware fix this ODU issue?

No, firmware will not repair a bad Ethernet jack. The radio can attach while PoE works, yet data fails on broken pins. As one expert notes, “if the PINS in the Ethernet connector are damaged, data transmission may not work.” Replace or repair hardware instead. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469556]

How do I test the cable versus the ODU Ethernet port?

Swap in a different Ethernet cable and observe LEDs near the ODU connector and power unit. If power and LTE/5G LEDs light, the radio link is up. If devices still show no Ethernet link or data, suspect damaged RJ45 pins or the ODU port. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469556]

I can’t reach 192.168.x.x on direct connection—what does that point to?

If your PC shows “Ethernet cable not connected” when cabled directly to the ODU, the ODU’s Ethernet port is faulty. Without a physical link, no IP address or web UI can be reached. Replace the port or the unit to restore connectivity. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469443]

Is RJ45 port replacement on the ODU possible, and who can do it?

It is possible, but finding a shop that will swap the damaged RJ45 is difficult. An experienced user notes that practically no one offers this service. If you locate a specialist, ask about warranty implications and sealing. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20470234]

How much might an out‑of‑warranty ODU replacement cost?

One user was quoted PLN 1,700 when T‑Mobile classified the fault as mechanical damage. Your cost can differ by contract and assessment. Use this as a ballpark when considering third‑party repair versus carrier swap. [Elektroda, franieczek, post #20468619]

Does the ODU support Bridge mode or provide signal diagnostics?

No. “No Bridge mode on the ODU, no signal diagnostics,” which limits integration with stronger routers and hinders RF analysis. Expect a basic, locked setup geared for plug‑and‑play rather than advanced tuning or monitoring. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20470234]

Who owns the hardware during the contract? Can I open it?

The T‑Mobile 5G Home Office set remains the operator’s property until the final subscription fee is paid. Before modifying or repairing the unit, contact T‑Mobile for guidance to avoid contractual issues. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469977]

I reported a fault right away—does T‑Mobile swap the ODU quickly?

A user who had a SIM detection fault reports the ODU was replaced in a few days at no cost. Early reporting and clear fault description can speed resolution. Escalate promptly if the unit is defective on arrival. [Elektroda, XdekHckr, post #21203809]

Why does the app say “Internet connected” while devices have no data?

PoE can power the ODU and let it attach to LTE/5G, lighting the radio LEDs. If RJ45 pins for data are damaged, Ethernet frames never reach the IDU or your PC. The app reflects radio status, not LAN link health. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469556]

What LEDs should I check to separate radio access from Ethernet issues?

Verify the power LED and one LTE/5G LED on the ODU or near the injector. Lit radio LEDs mean the modem is on‑air. If there’s still no Ethernet link, focus on the cable and the ODU RJ45 port integrity. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20469556]

Is the bundled IDU router worth keeping, and what alternatives exist?

The bundled IDU is weak and the ODU is limited. One expert calls it “overall a failure compared to the 5G CPE from ZTE, i.e. MC7010.” If your plan allows, consider a stronger 5G CPE for better routing and Wi‑Fi. [Elektroda, matek451, post #20470234]
