    Hello,

I have for more than a year a Satel Integra alarm system with SLIM DUAL PET motion sensors in an empty apartment without any issue.
A few days ago I received a false alarm from 2 of these sensors in 2 different rooms during bad weather/lightning and I thought maybe there was a link with it.
I asked Satel’s support and they told me this could be power surges that messed with the 2EOL sensing and they told me to try to add a surge suppressor on the power supply.
I did it (Finder type 3 module), for a few days I didn’t have any false alarm but yesterday whereas we had very clear weather in the whole area I got again a false alarm from one of the motion sensors 1h after I activated the alarm.

Satel support told me this could be a faulty motion sensor but I’d like to make sure there is nothing else that could make this problem before sending the sensor for warranty.
So I’m wondering what should I check to make sure this is not an issue with something in the environment?
There is no air conditioning working, no heating, shutters and doors were closed.
The sensor is at 2.10m high, and the sensibility is set higher than standard as it was lacking in sensibility when we moved in the room.
You’ll find attached an image of the sensor in the room if it can help to know what I should do.
    Thank you.

Empty room with a motion sensor at a height of 2.10 m.

    Welcome,

Attached is a photo of the sensor in the room, if that can help you figure out what I should do.

To start with, I would suggest mounting the sensor correctly, according to its operating principle.

    Greetings.

Sensitivity enhancement should not be used to compensate for inappropriate mounting. In this case, the detector is mounted against a wall located at a short distance, which may be affected by direct sunlight. The microwave part can see through the wall, the source of MW path violations can also be water pipes.

    Hello,

If your comment is about the installation height of 2.10m, in the past it was installed at 2.40m as in the instructions I found at that time, but when seeing that the detection wasn't as good as other rooms I checked again the online installation guide which said that it could be installed between 2...2.4m, so I guess this shouldn't be an issue?

    Thanks

Thanks for the technical explanation, I was suspecting this could be a problem of that type without finding infos about it.
The sensor was planned to be installed in the corner before but was finally installed in the middle of the wall as there was the heater in the corner before we moved it under the window. I'll try moving the sensor in the corner and see if it fixes the problem.

Hello, I have already replaced 2 pcs. Slimbdual pro due to false alarms. There is nothing to find fault with the installation or settings. It is apparent that the quality of these detectors is quite mediocre. I have fitted the regular Slim dual for now, just for the sake of the appearance of the other detectors in the house. We'll see. But I think it's time to go back to Optex and Bosch. Regards

aurea06 - why did you install a Dual PIR+MW detector in a small room ? Install a regular PIR detector in the corner of the room.

I installed the sensor in the corner of the room and it solved the issue.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around false alarms experienced with the Satel Integra alarm system, specifically using SLIM DUAL PET motion sensors. The user initially reported false alarms coinciding with bad weather, suspecting power surges as a potential cause. Satel support suggested installing a surge suppressor, which temporarily resolved the issue. However, false alarms recurred under clear weather conditions. Responses from the community emphasized the importance of proper sensor installation, including mounting height and positioning to avoid interference from environmental factors such as sunlight and walls. The user plans to reposition the sensor to a corner to mitigate these issues.
