    Hello everyone!

Over the past few days I have been trying to connect a 1K0907383F module from VW to the 13 pins connector for the trailer (VW California T5). Reason is I had to cut existing cables because end plug was defective.

However, I thought the cables coming out of the module would be following the same color scheme as the one you find everywhere online. But it’s not the case - I have 2 black/green wires or 2 brown wires for example. I have tried to see the voltage coming out of the wires, while turning on some blinkers, rear lights etc. to identify them. But unfortunately, there’s no voltage coming out (except one red wire at 12V), from what I have read it should simply be due to the module not detecting a trailer (resistance) so not sending any current…

I am completely out of luck here… Do you have any documents / ideas how I should connect the wires? How can I test them? Thanks a lot!

    Hi everyone,

Posting my response here to help others that might find themselves having the same issue.

We realized that one of the fuses under the driver seat was not working. It was one of the fuses used for the trailer. I think what happened is that by doing the soldering on the trailer plug without taking the fuse off in the first place we somehow shorted it. So I recommend first taking the fuse off, then working on the trailer.

Second thing is that we had to guess the wiring since the colors did not follow the standard convention. It’s a real shame that a brand like VW allows itself to use arbitrary connecting schemes… I’ve attached what we eventually have been using for the color as reference (it’s westfalia’s colors)…

    Thanks!
