Frictionless

I have limited knowledge of electronics and motors so need help. I want to build a system to power an electric motor, like one in a cordless drill motor. The unit needs to turn a spool that will roll up and down a small gauge cable roughly 8feet long. The weight of the object pulled is around 50lbs. The elec. motor should be geared down to only spin the spool at about 100 rpms. The final step is to make this motor controlled by a wireless remote from up to 100feet with on/off forward/reverse. I would like to use a rechargeable battery to power this device also. Hope someone has the time to help me on this.

Well for that looks like your going to have to get into electronics : ) I would start with googling arduino and getting one cause there handy and by using it you should gain enough knowledge to do what your looking for. Also arduino has a ton of tutorials with things that are similar to what u want to do. You would have to adapt a little to make that happen. Or search instructables maybey there's something similar there.
