This is a end amplifier. So any adjustment is before the input. Becarefull if the input has a weak signal mic/instrument etc.you also need a pre amplifier. Output from pc or cd player will be good. 12 or 15 Kohm will be good,bud again what is the input??
OK guys the advice is given & I am sure it is sound. But I have no really good understanding why this is the best solution. I expected the pot would control the output. I know its basic stuff for most, but this has baffled me before.
Its simple, at the input we have low voltage low current signals. At the output depending on the loudspeakers it is a high current or high voltage signal, plus based on the class of amplifier it is passible that the output is not direct connected to ground.
You can take a pre Amp. to boost a very low signal then you use a way of adjusting/mixing and then the end amp.
