I am working on a project for one of my classes and being a mechanical engineering student I do not know enough about circuits to wire this thing to do what I want it to.
I have all of the mechanical/drive train portion of this design working but now I need to control the direction/polarity and on/off of the motor with 3 limit switches and a circuit.
The master power would completely remove power from the circuit.
Initially Switch #3 will be in the closed position, a mechanical action will open this switch at Step 3.
Series of desired events.
Step 1 Master power on---trolley begins to move forward

-------------------- Switch #1 open
-------------------- Switch #2 open
-------------------- Switch #3 closed
Step 2 Trolley reaches end of line and stops when limit switch #1 is closed
--------------------Master power on
--------------------Switch#1 closed
--------------------Switch #2 opened
--------------------Switch #3 closed
Step 3 Limit switch #3 opens, polarity on motor reverses, trolley returns to starting position
--------------------Master power on
--------------------Switch #1 will be closed at first BUT will open once trolley begins to move
--------------------Switch #2 open
--------------------Switch #3 open
Step 4 Limit switch #2 closes and trolley stops at initial position on line
--------------------Master power on
--------------------Switch #1 open
--------------------Switch #2 closed
--------------------Switch #3 open
