Using a UPS’s AC to DC Circuitry to Power a 12Vdc 25amp (or higher amp) Device

Hello. I have a very old Belkin 1200VA UPS and really no need for it until I recalled that I have always wanted a beefy AC to DC power converter to 12V and that could put out at least 25 amps. This would be for bench-testing car audio components prior to installation. Would I be able to safely use the UPS's AC to DC circuitry to do what I am seeking? There currently is no battery in it and none would be there as I assume I would use the battery terminal wires for my DC supply. Thank you for any advice. Such items are sold at places like Radio Shack but are expensive when in the higher amperage output range so if this unneeded UPS from 2002 would work, that would be great! Thanks. Thomas

If you want to use the belkin First I need the schematics for the UPS Normally A UPS gives out 240 volts AC UK standards when the power trips This is why a UPS needs two 12 volt batteries

“It develops 240 volts AC out at 1200 VA , “ REPEAT NOT 12 VOLTS OUTPUT “ for a predefined period

This is so that you can back up your PC data if the power goes down Thats what A UPS is intended for so …..

DONT …. TRY AND CONNECT THIS TO A CAR AMP

Otherwise BIGGA BIGGA BADDA BOMB

IF In doubt dont connect it or switch on unless you know what your doing

If It has USB out put then that is only 5 volts dc and its not supplied at 1200VA and its also AC "220 / 120 vac is not 12 volts DC "

Also Not difficult to see why Amazon Loses Money is it anymore I dare say the amount of people who bought this thinking it was a 12 volt heavy duty ower supply must be alarmingly high

I would imagine same for Comet …. Now bankrupt Not hard to see why ? They haven’t moved at all into 2013

Maplins possibly not one of their salesmen probably don’t even know what a UPS is Down to training poor wages etc

And I would say this has existed for at least the last 20 years that I can confirm already

Me Id be demanding some answers to this and why’s an why not’s also why they keep telling you thier is no work out there Clearly there must be since they dont seem to have improved this market at all So Im suggesting that nearly all bussiness failures are based on a this very simple fact And id also be correct in saying that they have only tapped 10% of this market alone meaning every single bussiness should have a UPS installed

Finally Never listen even to engineers Now I have a good feeling thats why your bussinesses are going bust over night Secondley you simply refuse to pay attention to either your staff , engineers , other persons when we say what your doing is wrong apart from all the other wonderfull reasons that most of us are aware of
