During a current kitchen renovation we have purchased several new appliances. To my amazement they are all fitted with 10 Amp 3 conductor flexible supply cords cooured black & in the in line style as opposed to an angular 3 pin plug termination.
I am Australia based, IE 3 flat pins, 240 VAC/50 Hz. I noticed this after exchanging our fridge cord for a white cord I had in the parts box.
OK not earth shaking news, but I ask what the heck are designers thinking. In a kitchen you require white or light grey cordage & the 3 pin plug is much neater if molded into a right angle termination. No problem I thought, I will go on-line & buy a few cordsets to suit. Er no, after 20 minutes I realized that would not be so easy.
Can anyone help with a suitable supplier in Australia (or EBay) & can anyone explain this apparent loss of common sense. BTW my latest brand new rangehood has a supply cord but no possible means of exiting the device unless I drill a hole in the chimney & fit a grommet & then reinstall the cord - believe it or not!
