Hack for Infrared Driveway sensor alarm

Hello,

I don't know much about electronics but I love taking things apart and figuring out how to use them for my artwork.  I have a Harbor freight motion sensor driveway alarm set and I would like the alarm board to make a small motor turn on rather than the alarm itself.

I plan on using this in a drawing machine and since the frequency is the same I plan on getting a few more to turn on other drawing machines when the sensor is triggered.  Initially I tried to just hook the speaker wires up to the motor, but that doesnt seem to put out enough power to run the motor. (motor runs on 3.5 vdc)  Does anyone have a suggestion how to make this work or an alternative?  I have rudimentary to little knowledge with arduino.. would that be a better route?

Hi,

First of all, the output you can get when the sensor is triggered is just about a few volts. That is maybe the reason it can't drive your motor. It would be best to that output voltage first when it is trigger. Afterwards, you'll maybe need some amplifiers for this to compensate for the small voltage output.

Just a question, what is this drawing machine? Are planning to build something like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG9e06IWAxE but just a bit smaller in size?
