I would like to drive a couple of LED's from 220-240V AC to light-up a sign. No E&E experience and the mass of information out in the market is very confusing and daunting.

Is it wrong, a kill or overkill to use an NCP1013LED?

Please guide,

Hi,

First of all, what are your parameters in the LEDs? What type of LEDs are you using? How much supply and power does it require to work? Check with this datasheet, it will tell you things you'd likely encounter. http://wenku.baidu.com/view/749a55896529647d27285291.html

Hi, thanks for the article,

The spec's:
Certificates: CE and ROHS
Type of LED's: SMD 5050
Qty LED's: 60/Meter
Input DC: 12V
Power: 14,4Watts/Meter

So, I will only use 100 mm of the strip 1.44 W.

I see a number of LED replacement globes in the market place that should have the electronics in them that should work for my application, including day/night sensors?

Take apart a $2.00 LED light and see it has a capacitor and or set of resistors to drive the LEDs in series.

You can have up to 30 LEDs or more for 240v supply
