Adding LEDS on switch to show position?

Hi,

I am working on a militray project and have a 7 way lighting switch, I need to add LEDs to show what position the switch is in when its dark. Do i simply add the positive to direct to the output on the back of the switch or is there another way?

Thanks. Can't use a double pole switch though as the switch has been selected so ishall have to use the outputs on the back for the leds via a resistor, should be ok though shouldn't it?

you have to use a single(1) pole 7 way switch for this purpose . connect the main dc+ supply through a resistor 1watt to the main pole of the switch from the 1 to7 ways of the switch connect the anode of the leds of your choice, join all the cathode of the leds and connect it to the negative of the supply.
