i want to extend the length of my HDMI cable, i saw so many hdmi extenders out there online but unfortunately i cant lay my hands on any. So can i cut my hdmi cable into half then attach a CAT5 / CAT6 cable in between the two halves and re-solder it back? , will this work and will it have any effect on the signal sent from my PC to the TV?

Hi,

HDMI cords can suffer from signal degradation at longer lengths—50 feet is generally considered the maximum reliable length. How long do you want to extend your HDMI cable? That is the reason for the repeaters. I saw some videos about this, but they still use splitters for it. I think its possible but at the same time inefficient.

How far is the distance ?
