I have experience with metal fabrication but very limited knowledge with batteries, power supplies and controllers.
I have access to a number of bicycle parts. I wanted to take on a project to install an electric golf cart motor (or something) on to a bike frame and make a high end electric moped/"light " motor cycle.
Here are some specs for a current electric motor cycle
http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-fx/specs.php
I realize there are a number of different types of batteries (lithium ion, lead acid etc) some of which will weigh a lot more than others.
Assuming a rider will weigh 200 pounds and the bike and batteries weigh another 100 pounds.
what would you recommend for a motor, controller, charger and power supply?
Is there a way to have the charger set up so it can charge on 110 as well as 220 or even an EV car charging station?
I certainly do not need to go 85 miles per hour like the motor cycle listed above. I would imagine 30 miles per hour would be reasonable and safe enough...Dont want to be doing 50 mph on an electric bike driving by a cop.
I realize there a many considerations with gears and other things. i just want to get my head around the elecrical components to see how feasable it is. I obviously do not want to build a bike with 3 car lead acid car batteries crammed into a mountain bike frame. I would be curious to see what a custom 5-6 kWh power pack would look like , weigh and cost.
any thoughts, recommendations, ideas or criticism is most welcome.
