Transmitting Temperature Data Over GMRS for Remote Monitoring—EPE Article Reference?

I have a remote location (temp. monitored)  and I seem to remember an article in EPE magazine that discussed transmitting  data using GMRService.  Does anyone recall that article or have any information from other sources on how that could  be accomplished   The data needs to be transmitted about two miles.  Thanks.  M .
