Hello, sorry for the banal question when it comes to professionals :D I bought a YAESU FT 7800 unlocked and I have a Motorola GM350 with a 137-174 MHz display. Due to the fact that I am often in the car, I have contact with a house in the city at a distance of up to 40 km. Both radios were programmed at 145.XXXX MHz, but someone He once said that I should run away from this frequency, so here is the question on which I can broadcast to be ok with the law, no fees. Greetings green in this field djbodzio

In accordance with point 15 of the regulations, please correct the post.

Hmm, that's wrong. But I have one more idea, I have a BOSCH KF453 radio, it is programmed to the frequency of 459, XXXMHz because YAESU FT 7800 has this frequency as well

Of both you have, you cannot transmit anywhere without permission.

This frequency 145.xxx is the ham radio band, no wonder you were chased off this frequency even though almost all of the band 144-146 can only be heard with noise.

In Poland, there are two bands that can be used without permission: PMR446 446.00625-446.09375 FM with 12.5kHz inter-channel spacing and the CB band theoretically 26.96-27.40, although no one will chase you if you stick to the limits of 26-28 ( here you will not be 100% legal anymore :) ).

    Greetings

    Both hints are NOT appropriate.
    - despite the fact that in almost the entire range of 144-146 you can usually hear only noise -.
    - although surely no one will chase you as long as you stick to the limits 26-28 -.

    Hello...

As for PMR (446.00625MHz and the next seven channels every 12.5kHz), it should be added that on these channels there is a power limit to 0.5W EIRP, and on the CB band to 4W in AM and FM modulation, which would be legal without permission :-)

So, frankly speaking, without any bending of the law in force in Poland for free without permission, none of the available frequencies will meet your expectations

According to the law, PMR 446 can only be used with a power of 0.5 watts, but it is not allowed to use other antennas that are factory-installed in these devices, and this will give a maximum range of 3km in fairly favorable conditions.

The CB band remains and the basic forty with 4W power allowed, which theoretically would be enough with one, but now it goes to hold on, but as soon as the propagation of interference from other stations improves, it will increase to such an extent that there will be no chance to find a free channel.

All that's left is pay and cry.

djbodzio do not be angry that I am offering you something like this, but if you do not have long conversations and only want to be in constant contact with the car, a mobile phone is really a very good solution. These days, conversations are for pennies (as I wrote above, if you're not going to have long conversations). In your case, there are many advantages to this solution:
    1. Legally,
    2. Global range
    3. Reliable connectivity
    4. Correspondence kept secret.

At the same time, one small minus - not for free, but inexpensive.
    Think about it.

However, when it comes to CB Radio, if you use a long antenna in the car and in the base station a properly installed and tuned base antenna, I believe that at a distance of 20 km (in certain conditions even more) you will be audible clearly (excluding the period of increased solar activity).

    Regards,
    Daniel.

Bodzio - if you really want to do some left talk with this equipment, set it to PMR 446 channels or one of the 4 channels of the "simplified procedure" in the 154 MHz band. You will, of course, still be out of the law! but these are probably the only frequencies on which you rock with impunity for a long time. But the risks of a physicist - remember!

I agree. In Lublin - if it wasn't there - a city with a population of 350,000 people could not hear anything interesting for a really long time ... Band used very sporadically ... However, broadcasting on it without a license is of course - illegal.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the legalities of broadcasting using the YAESU FT 7800 and Motorola GM350 radios on the 137-174 MHz frequency range. The original poster seeks advice on permissible frequencies for communication over a distance of up to 40 km without incurring legal issues. Responses indicate that transmitting on the 145.xxx MHz frequency is illegal as it falls within the amateur radio band, which requires a license. Alternatives suggested include using PMR446 channels (446.00625-446.09375 MHz) with a power limit of 0.5W, or the CB band (26.96-27.40 MHz) with a maximum power of 4W. However, both options have limitations in terms of range and legal compliance. Some participants recommend mobile phones as a more reliable and legal communication method for the user's needs.
