That's what I suspected, its a DC motor, which means that it does not relate directly to what you need by way of a transformer.There should be another rating for the treadmill associated with the mains input on the power cord. It will be something like input voltage, 220V AC, 50Hz, single phase, so many VA, or something like that. The figure may not be VA, but current in Amps, VA is the product of input voltage and current in that case.The VA is the key part of it. The transformer should be rated at 120V AC at 60Hz, output 220V AC, with the same VA rating as a minimum, you are unlikely to get one at the desired VA rating, and it pays to have a few VA extra anyway.I beleive the current avialble from a standard US wall socket is 15 Amps, which represents arond 1800VA. If the motor is actually generating 4HP (around 3000 VA) in use, that may represent a problem. That's why knowing the VA rating at the mains input is so important.Cheers,Richard
