Hello everyone. I am new to your forum & so far love it. I am not an Elect. Engineer, and after searching & googling endlessly, i humbly ask for your advice and assistance. I am in LA, CA, USA, and i purchased a vintage 1970 espresso machine from Switzerland (we’re huge coffee drinkers). The machine is 220v, 2000watts, no chip or pump, and after speaking with the technicians of the manufacturer, they recommended i not convert it to 110v, rather, attempt to install it as a 220v machine. The 50Hz is not an issue with this simple machine. As the plug in europe is 1-hot (220v) + 1-neutral, i have read different ways on how to wire it using our USA two hot 110v wires from my kitchen’s unused 50 amp receptacle. Do i A-combine the two 110v hots with the machine’s hot wire, then my neutral with the machine’s neutral, or do i B-just connect 1 hot 110v to the machine’s hot wire , then the 2nd hot 110v hot to the machine’s neutral wire? Lastly, the current kitchen stove breaker (now unused) that i will use is rated at 50amps so i plan on changing it, to which amperage breaker? Looking forward to all the pros advice. Thank u,espresso gerry
