Hi
I have a vain hope that someone other than myself, an elderly person still as fascinated by electronics as I was some 65 years ago will have attempted construction of the above project.
I enjoyed the researching the various components and with my old eyes managing to solder some very small components e.g. DAC8551IDGKT VSSOP-8.
Having completed the build I switched on with my usual low expectation level to find a rather crackly and weak signal but for a few seconds some recognisable words in english. The radio then proceeded to simply click and with display illuminated but without any script I decided to switch off and investigate. It was then I realised the IC1 SSM2211 Audio Power Amplifier was very hot. I measured it with my Fluke and switched off as the temp went past 100degC, I felt sure this was not good!
Having been meticulous in assembling what was described as 'easy to build' I am seeking help from anyone who might proffer some guidance as to how to proceeded with fault finding having already followed the limited suggestion.
Regards
Alan
