I have this same chip (https://www.elektroda.com/rtvforum/topic3866123-1050.html#20319760) and power plug (TW-02 W600). Got OpenBeken flashed via "Upgrade Tools" (I got it later with the OpenBeken Flasher GUI), and both with my main Wi-Fi and my phone hotspot as "open", I can't get it to connect.
I think it did once because the router (OpenWrt) showed the DHCP allocation, but it was neither reachable nor did it appear on the Wi-Fi connected devices.

Logs with phone hotspot (* is what I've changed, it wasn't zeros. Anything else as it was):

Safe boot and its own AP work. Tried with both settings via the web UI and with the flasher GUI set to write obk config.
AI: Can you share the exact WiFi security settings you're using on both your main router and phone hotspot (e.g., WPA2, WPA3, mixed mode, password complexity, any special characters)?
WPA2_PSK_CCMP, one with password and one without. Special characters "!"
AI: Which exact version of OpenBeken firmware did you flash, and was it a standard release or a custom build?
    Standard release, OpenW600_1.18.225

in an attempt to replicate this I have flashed W600 with 1.18.226 and setup test DD-WRT AP as follows

2.4 GHz wireless interface settings panel with SSID and radio mode options
Wi-Fi security settings with WPA2-PSK and CCMP-128 (AES) algorithm selected

    connects OK

    Code: Text
Log in, to see the code

also fine with ! in password.

    have you rebooted router?

This means that either your AP is WPA3-only, which is unlikely because you've said that there was a DHCP event once.
Or that plug/module is too far away from the router and signal is too bad.
WIFI_STA_AUTH_FAILED will show up in both cases (and even if there is no AP with such SSID at all).

AP is WPA2-PSK only and tested moving within a meter of the AP and nothing. And same while testing with my phone.
"Allow legacy 802.11b rates" on openwrt didn't help.
Disabling 802.11r/k/v and using a single AP didn't help.
    Rebooting the AP didn't help.
The W600 doesn't seem to have the option to scan for wifi, so I can't test if it is seeing the AP at least.
Set "log_level 0" on openwrt for the wifi and nothing is showing relating to this.

Question to make sure, currently is powered by the UART to USB. Should this work or does it have to be powered different?

Additional logs of the W600 (AP restarted during this):

Then the problem is probably with the module.
I would've thought that chip->antenna connection is either damaged or factory defective, but you said that AP mode works/connects.
    How strong is AP signal?

As an alternative to fixing TW-02 module, you might buy ESP-02s or ESP8684-WROOM-03

"How strong is the AP signal?" - In what situation? OBK AP to phone or my AP to OBK?
I had it lying around, so not really worried about getting use out of it, but I wanted to check how OBK works and usability
