    Hello friends,

I have Renault Clio Storia 2009, 1.2, 43 kW and I have a problem where the steering wheel does not return to the center. It stays at around **45° of turn (in both directions), and then I have to manually straighten it. As far as I know, this car has **electric power steering (EPS).

Pictures included of the steering wheel components.

    Thank you.

AI: Has the car had any recent repairs, modifications, or been involved in any accidents that might have affected the steering or suspension?
    Not that I know of.
AI: Are there any warning lights on the dashboard (especially for the EPS), and have you checked the condition of the suspension, tie rods, or had a wheel alignment recently?
I had wheel alignment recently. No warning lights, car was inspected from a mechanic repairman.

The power steering is not responsible for the steering return. First of all, check that no knuckle pin is seized.
Any cracking of the rubber immediately qualifies it for replacement. Fold back the lashing rings on the steering gear and check for rust. Lubricate it prophylactically even if it is not rusted. Have you had this car for a long time and it just happened by itself, or did you buy it with this symptom? This is important because if you bought the car, you need to look in one more place.

Akerman forces are responsible for the automatic return of the steering wheel. And this is counted and taken into account when designing the car. And here, as above, you have to physically go under the car and check the condition of the components and whether any are seized.

    >>21863209 I have bought it with this symptom. And it feels like the turning of the steering wheel is a bit harder than it should have been.

Another interesting fact. When its hot outside I think the problem is worse, then when its cold.
