My friend has a Fiat Ducato mobile home, from 2010, engine 2.3 L JTD, type 250, that starts only seldomly with a key icon lit on the dashboard when it does not start. I have connected a Delphi OBD diagnostic tool: the engine computer does not connect but the chassis calculator gives the following DTC: D600 always present, D701 always present, 9002 intermittent, 9003 intermittent............ The main calculator seems to be EDC16C39, which appears to be known for its immo problems.. Do you think that I can solve this startup problem by myself????
AI: Have you already checked the ECU powers/grounds, the engine ECU fuses/relay, and the CAN lines at the EDC16C39 connector when it does not start?
Not tested the ECU ground or power... The fuses should be good since the failure to start is intermittent
What and where should I check the CAN line of the EDC16C39????
AI: Did you try with a second key, and is there any history of water ingress/corrosion around the ECU, body computer, or ignition antenna ring?
I have not try any other key and I have no knowledge of any water ingress or corrosion to a Ducato that has only 40 000 km, even if it was built in 2010
