    Hello,
    I have a problem with a 2012 Kemppi Minarctig Evo 200
HF is no longer working, lift welding works, however
After disassembly, the HF board A002 seems OK. However, I am finding 0 V at terminals X1. When I weld in lift mode, it rises to around 5 V.
The problem seems to be coming from the main board Z001, which is not properly powering the HF card..
Have you ever had this type of problem?
    Thanks
Can you specify exactly where you measured the 0 V / 5 V at X1 (on A002 or on Z001), and in which condition: HF mode selected, torch trigger pressed, gas preflow, trying to strike arc, etc.?
Measurement of 0 V on X1 on A002 with HF mode selected, trigger pressed, attempting to initiate arc, no welding arc
Measurement of 5 V on X1 on A002 with HF mode selected, trigger pressed, touch ignition, welding arc lit
Have you already checked the supply path from Z001 to A002: fuses, connector/cable continuity, visible damage or burnt parts, and does the machine show any error LED/code when HF should start?
No error code, I can't find the wiring diagram to test the transformer that powers the HF board

    >>21894010 Unplug the connector leading from the HF board to the HF trafo and measure the voltage on it. It should be between 300-450V and disappear as the HF arc terminates.
Plug the connector into place. Unplug this from the Z001 board to the HF board and measure the voltage during the initiation of the HF arc (should be about 80V.)
If you have voltage at both points - you have no IGBT gate pulse supply.

I performed the tests you suggested.
    • With the connector from HF board (A002) to HF transformer unplugged, I measure 0 V (instead of 300-450 V).
    • With the connector from Z001 to HF board unplugged, I also measure 0 V during HF arc initiation attempt (instead of ~80 V).
So I get 0 V in both cases.
Does this mean the problem is on the main board Z001 (power supply section for the HF)?
Is the only realistic solution to replace the Z001 board, or are there other components I should check before?
Is this a recurring problem on MinarcTig?
Thank you very much for your help.

    >>21894870 The board is not generating a waveform with HF included. Try restoring the factory settings. And one more thing - the relay on the HF board connects? Because I had forgotten about it.

I've already tried resetting it, without success.
Yes, the relay on the HF board is properly connected.

    >>21895159 But does it switch when starting the HF? And most importantly - does it connect? It happened to me several times that the relay "clicked" but did not short-circuit the contact. The relay operates on a DC current of considerable amplitude and there is a slow oxide burn and products of the arc on the contact material.

The relay was clicking, so I hadn't tested it.
I tested it and the relay is indeed faulty.
    I'm going to replace it.
Thank you very much for your help.

Topic summary

✨ Troubleshooting a 2012 Kemppi MinarcTig Evo 200 TIG welder with HF ignition failure: lift welding works, but HF start does not. The HF board A002 appears functional, yet 0 V is measured at terminal X1 on A002 in HF mode during trigger press and arc initiation attempts; about 5 V appears at X1 only when welding in lift mode and the arc is already lit. The fault is suspected to be in the main board Z001, which may not be supplying the HF card correctly. The discussion focuses on checking the supply path from Z001 to A002, including connectors, cable continuity, fuses, visible damage, burnt components, and any error indication on the machine.
