Which UK power monitoring smart plug in 2026 can be flashed with OpenBeken?

I have about 10 generic Tuya Wi-Fi plugs for the UK (LSPA8, WHDZ03 and other codes) which I've flashed with OpenBeken, mostly by disassembling them and using UART. They are a couple of years old, and recently some have died. I have had trouble finding replacements. I've bought a few similar-looking ones via AliExpress, but found they had somewhat different boards in them and were hard or impossible to flash.

Can anyone recommend a power-monitoring smart plug for the UK, available in 2026, that can be reliably flashed with OpenBeken?

Ideally high power, but I would be OK with light monitoring only.

The latest sockets are small and difficult to dismantle. You can’t do it without damaging the casing. What happened to the old ones? Because the capacitors in sockets like that often fail after a few years.

I've had two fail the same way - a constant dim blue light on the power switch and don't connect to Wi-Fi or show any other signs of activity. I haven't found any way to reset them even though I tried reflashing the first one. I'll check the capacitors on the second one, thanks for the suggestion.

I can see you’ve got greater requirements (10 plugs). You might want to consider switching to ZigBee. With that, you don’t need to reprogram the chips. If one breaks, you just buy a new one and pair it – the whole process takes a few seconds.

OpenBeken runs on new BK7238 chips as well, so if you buy something, there is a fair chance it will be supported. It's a safe bet. In worst case, you can ask here, and we'll help you with flashing.

It's true that capacitors fail often with such devices, but in OBK, you can enable PowerSave to make them last longer.
