    Hello

How to extract a graphic from a * .pdf file? It is, for example, about diagrams. The pdf has a vertical layout, which is inconvenient to read. I would like to draw such a drawing and rotate it in some graphics program.

in adobre reader you have a tool like the snapshot tool (next to the "handle" and "select text"). you select them, select the desired area and it lands on the system clipboard. you paste it into some graphics program and do what you want.
the second option (I haven't tested it, but I think it is possible) is to use an OCR program that will allow you to select the appropriate fragment as an image. You let him digest this pdf, and save the results. The image should be in the saved file.
I suspect that using some pdf editing program would also allow you to extract the image.

I know this way, but it's not good. This way, you can only get what you see on the screen. The result is that if the graphic in 100% magnification does not fit on the screen, then after reducing it and downloading to the clipboard, you get less detail and not much can be done further. The remedy is to increase the resolution of the monitor, which means that the data is taken from the graphics card. My point is to somehow programmatically extract the full graphic data from the pdf. I have never tried OCR and I do not have it on the disk, and I would not like to experiment blindly. In this regard, I have a request from someone already experienced for advice.

I played a little with the free program Tomahawk PDF + 2.7.5 pl and without much problem I was able to extract (and save as jpg) from pdf a graphic file (diagram) in a quality comparable to the quality in the original pdf.

You use the menu Tools-> Extract PDF-> PDF File-> Execute (while waiting - Working-> Finished) -> View Images. The Image Manager program is launched and there you "adjust" the magnification (zoom - it does not affect the actual size of the image, it's only a preview), vertical and horizontal flips, 90 degrees (Flip, Rotate), compression format, etc. and save the selected file / files (Save / Convert).

Unfortunately, that was not what it was about. This program extracts all * .jpg, * .gif etc. from PDF without asking, but it cannot handle schematics. Then they are not graphics and I asked the question wrong. Is there any way to draw schematics?

    I'm sorry I didn't help you much.
Indeed, the file checked by me were scans of images converted into pdfs without the use of OCR ... Tomahawk cannot cope with typical "full" pdfs (or rather pictures in them).

So there is probably only Acrobat in the full version ...

It is not about one file, but about a large database of diagrams. And it would be good if I did not have to bother someone with another scheme. And if it is possible, another question: Can pdfs in RequiresAcrobat6_IE.pdf format be converted to a lower version? The "Six" is a muddy "cow" (at least on my equipment) and I don't want to install it.

The best way is to install Adobe Illustrator (even in the Trial version).
Then you open the PDF file with AI. Once opened, you have the full option to edit the file, export graphics, etc.
