    Hello

As I’d like to spend some time over the festive season working on my future dissertation, I’m currently doing a bit of research on the topic:

    “Designing modern electrical installations”

I’ve only just decided on this topic, having changed my original plan, so I need to get a clearer picture of the current trends.

If anyone could recommend any interesting literature, company names, technologies, etc. that I should look into, I’d be very grateful.

I’m also planning to take a somewhat pioneering approach by proposing the transfer of solutions from electrical installations to transmission and distribution networks.

Thank you in advance for any help.

You can have a look at the Schneider Electric (Merten) website – KNX installation – they can send you a CD with a presentation if you contact them by phone; ABB – KNX; Moeller Easy (a system based on PLCs); programming Siemens LOGO! PLCs – easy-to-program controllers on which you can base your smart home system; the Tebis system – a simplified version of KNX. In short, there’s a lot out there – even more than I’ve listed – but the literature is mainly in English. I’ve listed the ones I’ve heard of.

When it comes to single-family housing, I can wholeheartedly recommend Moeller’s Electrician’s Guide, *Modern Electrical Installations in Single-Family Housing* – it contains practically everything you need to know to design a ‘smart home’. Also, do check out these websites:

Another good read is P. Petykiewicz’s ‘Modern Electrical Installation in a Smart Building’.

    Best regards

What can I say? DACPOL was a great help during the design phase, mainly with supplying the components. But as I always say, always try your hand at new challenges.
