    Hello
coroll verso 1,8 benz 2004 and three lights came on while driving VSC, TRC OFF and yellow engine indicator light (check engine).
After connecting to the computer, Fachman said that it could be from the catalyst, he deleted it and after some 60 km 3 lights came on again.
What could be causing the problem? What is the service life of the catalytic converter? what can you do?

What error codes have registered. What is the mileage of the car. What the diagnostician advised.

mileage 190 thousand, the diagnostician found that the probe voltages are normal (within the limits) and suspected the catalyst, but if it's catal. shouldn't errors pop up right away after deleting ??

I asked for error codes. If it is the fault of the catalyst, the readings of the second probe will not be correct. There are various errors with errors related to short-circuits of broken sensor cables, which "quickly" transmit their indications to the engine controller, most often they cannot be erased at all or they return immediately after starting the engine. in other cases, there must be a certain sequence of conditions under which the system will signal a failure. At the next visit to the diagnostician, please note the fault code and, if necessary, the message displayed by the diagnostic tester, the type of device used to check the vehicle. It would be wise to ask the diagnostician to check the current parameters of the device that the fault concerns and note these parameters.
When it comes to the life of the catalysts, it is impossible to precisely determine because I know cases that the engine at 400,000 km had an efficient catalyst (without replacement), as well as another case that after 35,000 it broke down because the engine periodically did not burn for 2 cylinders and the fuel burned in the catalyst.
By the way, the VCS indicator applies to Toyota's Vehicle Stability Control by Bosch and TRC traction control and I would suggest checking the error codes in these systems. The defect may turn out to be very prosaic, but without asking the drivers, I would not dare to suggest anything.

so the error code is 0420, as it appears from other posts is a catalyst ???? I read somewhere that you can do something like a diagnostic probe emulator, what do you think?

    Hello.
The same lights came on in my corolla verso r. 2004 1.8 petrol mileage 91700. After visiting the mechanic and connecting the computer, a damaged lambda probe was found (the computer showed a fault code saying that the probe was damaged and voltage measurements were taken for confirmation), which was then replaced. The lights came on again after driving about 60 km. Next visit to the workshop and connection of the computer - an error code saying that the second probe was damaged, the voltage measurements showed no damage, but I decided to replace the probe. After driving about 40 km, the lights came on again - a phone call to the mechanic, who said that now you need to check the harnesses for the lambda probe itself. Maybe someone has an idea what could be the reason for the lights - the computer spits out a code every time that the probe is damaged. After the last lighting of the lamps, I did not delete the error from the mechanic, but I removed the clamp from the battery, which cleared the errors. The lamps always turn on when I stand at the traffic lights for a while, they never came on when the car was moving. Do you recommend a good mechanic from Warsaw or the surrounding area?

Code P 0420 means it's a catalyst! After deleting the error, it does not light up immediately, but only after driving a dozen or so kilometers, especially on the route at an equal speed. I catch this error longer while driving around the city. The probe plots in front of the catalytic converter are similar to those behind the catalytic converter, which tells the engine control unit that the catalytic converter is not working as it should. The probe downstream of the catalyst should have a different graph compared to that of the pre-catalytic converter. Compare the charts.

I came across the topic by accident. As a curiosity, I would like to mention that in my corolla verso also the above-mentioned lights were on, until the visit to the automatic car wash :)

maybe someone has a photo of lambda probe charts before and after the catalyst ??

I am attaching a couple of lambda probe charts. Corolla E12 4ZZ. Every 500km error P0420 pops up - catalyst capacity is below the minimum. Judging by the charts, the kat is to be replaced, mileage 180 thousand. B + G. Maybe someone knowledgeable about things can determine if the catalyst is for replacement. Symptoms: no power above 3000 rpm.

Well, unfortunately, you cannot see the lambda probe charts, and is the second probe (diagnostic) chart completely constant? what does it look like?

The chart is probably visible. Blue color - 1st probe, yellow - 2nd probe. Time-varying waveforms.

What should be the voltage on the lambda probe I in Toyota Corolla Verso II, year 2007, because I do not know if the model described here is I or II.

I had a similar problem as the one described above, every 50-60 km, the emergency mode turned on for me, it was helped by the replacement of the lambda probe, which fell after 150,000 km. Replacement of the Toyota service around PLN 800.

I was on Toyota service today. The first lambda probe for me has 1Volt

I put something like this in my coroll.

And the problem with the head of the p420 does not pop up anymore.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2004 Toyota Corolla Verso experiencing simultaneous illumination of the VSC, TRC OFF, and check engine lights. The user reports that after a diagnostic check, a potential catalyst issue was identified, specifically error code P0420, indicating low catalytic converter efficiency. Various responses suggest that the problem may stem from a faulty lambda probe, as multiple users have encountered similar issues with their vehicles. Recommendations include checking the lambda probe voltages, examining wiring harnesses, and considering the replacement of the catalytic converter if necessary. The lifespan of catalytic converters varies significantly, with some lasting well over 400,000 km, while others may fail sooner. Users also discuss the possibility of using diagnostic probe emulators as a workaround.
