Hello. The case concerns a condensing boiler with a Vaillant ecoVIT plus VKS INT 196 tank, so from yesterday a pulsating "message" SEr appeared on the display of the boiler, indicating the need for maintenance. I would like to point out that the stove is three years old and so far it has been serviced on a regular basis, most recently in September last year. By the way, a "specialist" from Vaillant, after removing the casing, swept everything with a brush, claiming that everything was ok and he collected PLN 200! My question: can I turn off this function myself, because calling a service technician is probably about PLN 100 back.

You can clear this message yourself, but the next ones will indicate the need for cleaning or disturbance of the chimney draft.

Thanks, but how can I clear this message?

The message is removed by the service technician.
It was created to inform the user about the need for review and I do not recommend deleting this type of information yourself.
Please ask the service technician during the inspection to disable the maintenance information option. It will automatically cause that the user will have to remember about the date of the next inspection.

It seems strange to me after 4 months from correct such a message was displayed for maintenance and inspection of the boiler.
Maintenance and inspection should ensure a minimum of one year of trouble-free operation (unless the inspection reveals an element that needs to be replaced soon or there is damage to one of the elements) but ... there is no need for maintenance.

that would have given me a lot to think about.
As a service technician, I carry out a lot of such inspections, and despite the lack of time, I at least check the basic security measures that care for the user's safety.
It is from tond my suspicions of improper maintenance, or, as you can call it, failure to do it at all!

Hello, Recently, I also had this problem with the SER message on the Vaillant stove. There is hardly any way to find out how to remove this on the web. However, by chance I managed to find a hint on the pages of ... Vaillant.
    1. Enter the diagnostic menu by pressing the "i" and "+" buttons simultaneously
The display will show the diagnostic parameter "d.0"
    2. Press the "+" button until you get to the parameter 84 - "d.84"
    3. Press the "i" button to move to the value of parameter 84 which is the number of operating hours until the next maintenance. The display will show a number showing how many hours the stove will continue to work until the message "cheese" appears. In your case it will be "0". To set a different number, press the "+" button, to disable this function, press the "-" button until the "-" sign appears.
    4. To confirm the changes made, press the "i" button for a few seconds until it stops flashing
    5. To exit the diagnostic menu press "i" and "+" simultaneously.

    Ready

You read, you write, but none of it.
Ser signaling means incorrect or no operation of the boiler due to poor water flow. This may be due to the calcification of the exchanger in the boiler or a dirty filter on the return. In the VKS boiler you will probably press "i" and S.53 will be displayed. These messages are not reset, the cause of the flow suppression must be found.
    Well, unless I'm wrong.

I do not understand why the SER message indicates a malfunction in the oven. It is described everywhere that it is a message about the expiry of the programmed time for the next service. When I entered the parameter d.84, I had the value "0". After all, there are FXX messages from the error signaling. But of course I can be wrong.
BTW. During the last service, the Vaillant technician only cleaned the combustion chamber and said nothing about the water flow. It is a pity to spend 200 for removing the SER message, which appears in the middle of the heating season and which partially limits the functionality of the temperature controller because the error message appears.

So he doesn't look like a professional. On top of that you call Vaillant ... it's weird. Our specialists do much more.

    Coming back to the topic.
Boilers have their own logic of operation, if something goes beyond a certain range, the information appears on the display - Ser. There is an internal clutch installed in the VKS boiler, there is also an electronic pump between it and the coil, so maybe something is clogged on this circuit.
An example that I was able to observe at the client's. The boiler operated with a weather-compensated controller (for highly inflated heating curves) on two heating circuits, but the installer installed an on-off room thermostat on the radiator circuit. When the latter disconnected the pump, the boiler rapidly overheated and the message Ser. So the message appears not only because the amount of boiler operation is exceeded. In the described example, it was enough to set the heating curves for the boiler to work with weather control, and not like a kettle, and the problem disappeared.

I found a full description of this code in one manual - details below in the picture:

Vaillant ecoVIT plus VKS INT 196: Dealing with SEr Maintenance Message on Condensing Boiler

in addition, I will ask if entering the setting in the form of the "-" sign completely eliminates the display of this message, also in the event of a failure? because according to the instructions it concerns "maintenance messages"?

Only maintenance work. In your burner barrel, flow disturbances are unlikely to be a threat.

If the set value can have a maximum value of 300, then multiplied by 10 hours is 3000. 3000 hours is 125 days, i.e. 4 months just ....
How is this setting supposed to last for e.g. a year?

You must enter the first diagnostic level and the second level, i.e. the service level, thus using the password to change the code value d.97 on "17" and code d.84 on "-" , that is:

    1. You open the first diagnostic level to enter the password!
o Press the buttons simultaneously "and" and "+" .
The display shows the code " d.0 ".
o Using the buttons "+" or "-" go to the diagnostic code, i.e. "d.97" !
o Press the buttons "and" .
The display shows the current diagnostic information.
o With the button "+" or "-" (blinking indications) you change the password value to "17" .
o You register new set password value in memory "17" holding button "and "Pressed for approx. 5 seconds until the flashing and indications stop.

    2. Now you are on the second diagnostic level to turn off CHEESE (at this level, all information from the first and second diagnostic level will be displayed), that is:
The display shows the code again "d.0" .
o Using the buttons "+" or "-" now go to the diagnostic code one by one, "d.84" !
o Press the buttons "and" .
The display shows the corresponding diagnostic information.
o With the button "+" or "-" change value (flashing displays) change from to "-"
o You register a new set value in memory "-", holding button "and" in the pressed state for approx. 5 seconds until the flashing and indications stop.

    3. Now you close and exit the diagnostic mode as follows:
o Press the buttons simultaneously "and" and "+".
    or
o Do not press any button for approx. 4 minutes.
The display shows the current flow temperature of the central heating circuit, and this is the end of the procedure.

Jt. procedure quite complicated but manageable, good luck!
