I have a question if isopropanol is used to clean the mini usb contacts in the phone to degrease them, does isopropanol affect the plastic if a small amount gets on the plastic surface?

It does not react with plastics.
It is often used to clean electronics boards, flooded appliances.

the plastic is not affected, but I had cases where it melted the paint and the smears have become so, you have to be careful

There is a safe product that does not destroy the plastic and does not dissolve the paint: Industrial Cleaner by WURTH (two dots above the U). 500ml bottle about PLN 20. Proven and smells good. Contains (R) -p-mentha-1,8-diene. Use this remedy.

If you do not have a branded housing, be careful - I once bought a Nokia housing for PLN 15 and washed off the entire keyboard print with one wipe :)

Does the person inserting the post mention anything about the keyboard?
    The discussed problem concerns PCBs.

Leszcz72- No, he does not mention. But I think that not everyone opens the phone to clean the socket ... And the problem of disappearing numbers cut me off a bit (or actually my stupidity) so it was not bad that I indicated it.
    :)

My friend did not mention the PCB either, so I do not know why such comments were made. It is not known if the interested person started the phone at all to wash the usb contacts or if he intends to do it "from the outside"

And I have a question, I came across 2-Propanol in a store. This is the same as isopropanol?

Topic summary

Isopropanol, commonly used for cleaning electronics, generally does not react with plastics. However, caution is advised as it can damage paint finishes on plastic surfaces. Users have reported instances where isopropanol caused paint to melt or smear, particularly on non-branded plastic components. An alternative cleaning product, Industrial Cleaner by WURTH, is recommended as it is safe for plastics and does not dissolve paint. The discussion also clarifies that 2-Propanol is the same as isopropanol.
