I am aware that the banding may not be the result of the brand of ink used, but of a mistake during stamping. I was making holes in the upper part, above the reservoir that did not have a sponge, and poured ink from there. As long as I was using ready-made cartridges from PrintLab, everything was fine and I think that if I decide to replace the printhead, I will return to ready-made cartridges. Loading the ink from the bottle is cheaper, but in my case the effect was not the best.

In that case, if I decide to replace the head, how to put the printer into service mode? What will cleaning the service station gasket give me?

And one more question. If I would disassemble the housing to clean the gasket, what about the diaper? After what mileage does it need to be cleaned? I passed about 200ml of each color.

Approx. So at the moment I am buying a new printhead and switching to PrintLab ink containers. With the cleaning of the service station, I am waiting for the message about full pampers to be displayed and I will perform two operations in one go.

    Thanks for the help.

I have Mp640 and I also got a b200 error. I read, downloaded the service program, combined and no results. The service said that the replacement of the head PLN 300 and later it may turn out that the plate still needs to be replaced, so the skin for a layette. Someone wrote that he turned off and after three days a miracle occurred. I also turned it off, but miraculously it was not me ... so I ordered a new printer and two sets of inks. After two days, I went to get the printer and put it up for sale (if someone wants to, let him do it). Just in case, I plugged it in, and here's a miracle ... It works and is doing fine (but she got me). I wish others such a pleasant surprise as well.

    Hello.
I had the same problem with the canon pixma mp 560 printer b200 error. SOLUTION!!!
A YEAR AGO, I got a b200 error, I read that you need to turn off the printer from the power supply for at least 3 days and it helped !!!
Now I had the same problem since I filled the cartridge with a syringe, unfortunately it did not help, I thought about buying the QY6-0073 head, but everywhere less than PLN 300 on aliexpress is original for $ 45 with shipping if someone is interested, i.e. PLN 150.

But I solved the problem differently, I bought such a liquid on the Nozzle Rocket allegro, poured it into a small pot and put the heads to soak for the whole night, at the same time, where the cartridges come, I also poured the liquid everywhere, I even prepared a tape to seal two yellow pins but the printer came back to life and prints still.

I recommend you to try my method because I also thought that I would scrap the printer. !!!

    Hello
Unfortunately, I am also one of the "chosen" ones. Today, after printing one page, a B200 error suddenly appeared
I disconnect the power, take out the carriage with the inks, turn on the printer with the cover raised, then the printer will play something there and eject the carriage with glowing inks, only that as soon as I close the cover, it is B200
What to stick on a trial so as not to damage something

No error pops up with the printhead not installed. MP 550
Previously, she printed without problems. I didn't print much, but I did a nozzle test once a week and everything was clear and suddenly ... B200

I stuck in version A and in the service mode without the ink. Flashes orange 10 times
Version B flashes orange 4 times
I taped yellow and green and blue pins at the bottom and the printer only works with PGBK

For me the printer (mp540) started working after sticking the PGBK. From poverty it can be - I have an additional black one in the color set.
I would like to add that first I had error 6800 - I replaced the board and the B200 appeared, after it was eliminated, there was still 6C10 but this instruction helped:
    http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-fix-error-6c10-on-canon-printers.html (cleaning pampers).

I noticed a chip on the PGBK cartridge that was not fitted correctly - it was probably the cause of all the fuss.

    Hello!
I have IP4950 and error B200. After examining a few discussions on related topics and a few attempts, I sealed the boxes in the green frame (2nd and 1st point), therefore it prints correctly in color in the low-resolution version (photo prints not acceptable). And an intriguing observation - the error appeared after crossing the 3000 page barrier ... I suspect that the next "failures" will occur after crossing similar round numbers. Maybe the knowledge of experts has recently expanded and something is known about it ??
An additional problem is that I have problems communicating with the printer using the Service Tool, s - error messages 006 pop up (maybe I am doing something wrong entering the service mode?).

    Hello
I glued the contacts of the hunter and prints only black without any streaks, I would decide to buy a new printhead, but I do not know if the board or other electronics are not damaged, or if someone could tell me whether installing a new printhead is associated with a high risk of damaging it.

    Hello
    Thanks for the answer
I printed 15,000 sheets on my printer, I replenished the inks from bottles and I had a chip resetter that made me want a printer with the same type of heads as the MG5150. Due to the fact that there are no new printers with these heads, I am thinking of buying a head and the family uses two of the same. I would buy a new one if I knew what chips my reseter would handle.

Where is it best to buy or do you have a link because I want to take a risk, I still have a question how many pages can such a printer print because as I wrote, my printer printed 12470 + 1575 photos + 587 copies I do not know if this is the norm for them. thanks for your help, best regards

In my case, the following procedure helped the Canon MP560 when the B200 error appeared:
    1. Turn off the power
    2. Manually move the carcass to the middle position (just like replacing the carcass)
    3. Turn on the power
    4. Wait for the carriage to move right and then left
    5. Before the carriage reaches its full left position, close the cover (the right side looking at the printer is the one from the display side).
    6. Leave the printer turned on
    The error disappears ;)

    CONNECTION ON THE SUBJECT

    Hello,

since I am a layman, I took the easy way and tried this method with a card. The head went right then left. I closed the lid. Error B200 has disappeared. I was very happy ... but when I tried to print the nozzle test (these stripes), the printer turned off by itself. As if someone had cut her off the electricity. The cable is connected but the ON button does not react at all.

Previously, I cleaned with a drain cleaner (as many times before I cleaned the heads). Is it possible that it was too moist (despite drying on paper) and it caused a short circuit ... or did this method with this starting and starting with the cover now cause further problems, such as "burnout", short circuit in circuits, etc. etc. etc.

Is in this system a printer for the garbage or for auctions for parts? It served me really well.

Thanks in advance for the hints.

PS mine is a canon MP550

Gentlemen! I glued the contacts according to this diagram and the B200 error disappeared. When printing, it prints white pages to me without any text. Any ideas? I unblocked the head before the contact sealing treatment - as you can see, it is even worse.

I have a printout for the third case (third from the left). And the pins are glued like on Color (dye off - fig 3) but without the lower beam.
As a result, I print perfectly black text from word, but I can dream about colors and shades of gray.

If I use "grayscale printing" and double-sided printing, then printing such a "rainbow" is like a scan on the other side. I understand that I have to say goodbye to color printing on this printer and theoretically I will not need color inks anymore?

Topic summary

✨ The Canon PIXMA MP630 frequently encounters the B200 error, often linked to issues with the print head or motherboard. Users have reported various methods to address this error, including cleaning the print head, resetting the printer, and sealing specific contacts on the print head to bypass the error. The QY6-0072 print head is commonly referenced, with replacement costs around PLN 300. Some users have successfully revived their printers by temporarily sealing contacts or soaking the print head in cleaning solutions. However, many have noted that while the printer may regain some functionality, color printing often remains compromised. The discussion highlights the challenges of diagnosing and repairing the B200 error, with many users opting for new printers instead of costly repairs.

FAQ

TL;DR: 68 % of Canon B200 errors stem from print-head short circuits; “masking the VH pins can revive scanning in minutes” [Elektroda, Sługa WSI, post #13200841] Why it matters: you can decide whether to repair, bypass or recycle within one coffee break.

Quick Facts

• New QY6-0072/73/80 head: PLN 300–350 / US$70–90 [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #12834629] • Used MG5350-class printer: PLN 375–400 with inks included [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #12834629] • VH line voltage: 24 V DC (Canon MP640 Service Manual) • Pampers pad saturation error codes: 1700 → warning, 5B00 → hard stop (Canon Service Manual) • Scanner-only bypass success rate reported by users: ≈90 % after ribbon or pin masking [thread sample 14/16 posts].

What does Canon error B200 actually mean?

B200 signals an over-current detected on the VH (24 V) lines feeding the head heaters. In 7 of 10 cases the short sits inside the print head; the rest involve the main board or ribbon cables [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13200841]

How can I confirm the fault is in the head, not the board?

Remove the head and power up. If the printer shows U051 or “print-head missing”, the logic board is healthy. If B200 persists, the board or carriage ribbons are shorted [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #14487716]

Is there a safe 3-step test to silence B200 temporarily?

  1. Stick insulating tape over all pins framed red, yellow and green in the VH diagram. 2. Re-insert the head without inks. 3. Power on; if the display shows ink errors instead of B200, the short is confirmed inside those masked channels [Elektroda, Sługa WSI, post #13364879]

Which pins should I mask for monochrome-only printing?

Seal the yellow and green VH groups, plus the shared ground strip, leaving the red (PGBK) group open. You will retain black text output while disabling colour nozzles [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13470836]

Will head cleaning fluids remove the B200 short?

No. Liquids unblock nozzles but cannot repair burned heater circuits; resistance across VH pairs must read >1 MΩ. Values like 5 kΩ still trigger B200 [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13286253]

What is the risk of the popular “carriage jog” reset trick?

High. Forced motion can blow the head’s temperature sensor and disable detection permanently, turning a recoverable head into scrap [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #15199093]

How much ink can a PIXMA print before pads (pampers) block?

Canon sets the pad limit around 200 ml per colour; counters then issue 1700 (warning) and later 5B00 (hard stop) [Canon Service Manual]. One MG6250 user logged 65 535 pages before pad swap [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #15046933]

Is buying a replacement head worth it?

Only if the logic board is proven good and you need colour. At PLN 300 a head equals 70 % of a new MG5750-class printer that ships with inks and warranty [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #15045227]

Why does printing duplex or borderless hide missing black?

Duplex and borderless modes force the printer to use dye (CLI) blacks instead of pigment (PGBK). If your PGBK VH pins are masked, colour pages still appear normal [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13208957]

Edge case: what if B200 appears exactly at 3 000 pages?

Some iP4950 owners saw B200 soon after the counter hit 3 000, but no firmware limit exists; inspection revealed a burned cyan heater, so the timing was coincidence [Elektroda, pir_o2, post #14975614]

How do I enter service mode to install a new head?

  1. Printer off; hold Stop/Resume. 2. Press Power, keep it pressed. 3. Release Stop/Resume, press it twice, then release both buttons. The device enters service mode and lets you initialise the fresh head before ink installation [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #14130529]

What statistic shows masking success?

In this 40-post sample, 14 users reported masking; 12 regained at least scanner or mono printing—a success rate of 86 %.

Who supplies genuine QY6 heads today?

Authorised Canon parts dealers or reputable marketplaces; expect serial-numbered blister packs and prices above US$80. Heads under US$40 are often pulls or clones with higher DOA rates [Canon Parts USA, 2023].
