Thanks for the help. Summarizing the losses - the only one that is used is the one made of a large cardid or the one made of a smaller pigment?

When it comes to diagnosis, I have a few questions.
    1. What is the chance of saving color printing?
    2. How long does it take?
    3. How much does it cost?

I warmly greet you and thank you again for your help

I have two heads from the B200. After the contacts are glued, they print black. Normally there was only a trash can.
I have a general problem with MP640 and IP4700 not printing color. Blank when printing test. I changed the heads, it prints a little CYJAN in one. I don't know what the problem is.
I even unplugged and unfastened the electronics and bathed the plastic under warm water and nothing. I reset the printer according to the guidelines https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvgneJYfVuI and EPROM and nothing. I unblocked the head with yellow OCP and Nozzle Rocket liquids and in an ultrasonic cleaner and nothing. Only black prints. No color.
Are there any settings in the printer drivers or software? Because how to explain that in two printers almost simultaneously on two computers the effect is the same. One of them printed the color normally, but when I changed only the inks to the same ones that I use, the color disappeared all the time.
I think I have five heads that I have used before and each effect is the same. I put in new cartridges with new fresh ink and nothing. Black only.
What may be the problem? Someone can help?
Was it a garbage can? It's like this ecology and electro-waste, and like the DPF in diesel, which already in 2018 is to be in gasoline under the name DFP.

    Hello everyone.
Yesterday I got a B200 alarm bothering a large number of you on my 3-year-old Canon MG5550 printer, where I use replacements from the beginning.
I found a movie on the net, following the instructions on it, the alarm for the first printing disappeared :( https://youtu.be/1IQJT2q9Vu8

After reading most of the information on the forums, I first taped over the area:

nothing helped, then I sealed the area:
Canon PIXMA MP630: Error B200, Reset Methods, Cleaning Print Head, Scanner Usage & Pampers Pads
started to print what I wanted, which is black and white text from Word, except that the letters are a bit blurry, I did an automatic head alignment and somehow it went.

The next day, I decided to take the head out and clean it, a cotton swab soaked in cologne was used for cleaning (I know you probably write that you don't do that), I removed the tape from the sealed pins, put the head in and it turned out that the alarm is gone and the printer prints all colors.
Only black is a bit weird, but I will work on that a bit more.

If it does not improve or the alarm returns, it is always possible to buy a new head on Alliexpress for about PLN 130 (free shipping !!!)

I greet everyone and wish you successful printing.

    Hello.
The MG5350 printer was not used for a long time. The inks were used from the news on the Allegro, they did not dry out because even during longer stops, it printed perfectly. After one of such longer stops, it showed the B200 error. After removing the head, it shows error U051. So, judging by the descriptions from the forum, the board is functional, the head error. After sticking the top 4 pins in the head, the B200 error disappears. The printer prints only in black. The head looks ok. I haven't unblocked the head yet, hence my question whether unblocking can help to eliminate the B200 error? Is it possible to do something to restore the full functionality of the printer? I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

Honestly, after buying a head from China and inserting the same error code, I finally gave it up, sold it for PLN 50, paid 150 extra and bought a used one, and it has worked for two years.

    Hi,
After 3 days of struggle (replacing the ink, various attempts to reset the printer, etc.), I bathed the heads in water and then in spirit. I measured the contacts. They are about 1 MOhm (more or less - 1.0 to 1.2). I reset the printer (this solution with two buttons) and... it started.
    Entry for posterity :)
Thanks for your help through this forum.

    Did you have to...? :(
    People are wolves.
Seriously, it actually happened. As soon as the head got the ink, it died (I only printed one side of the table). The next day I tried and unfortunately B200.

I wanted to ask. Is the measurement of pin resistance color to color (i.e. between two, e.g. red ones), or pin to its ground (the red examples to the lower ones marked with a dashed line)?

Topic summary

✨ The Canon PIXMA MP630 frequently encounters the B200 error, often linked to issues with the print head or motherboard. Users have reported various methods to address this error, including cleaning the print head, resetting the printer, and sealing specific contacts on the print head to bypass the error. The QY6-0072 print head is commonly referenced, with replacement costs around PLN 300. Some users have successfully revived their printers by temporarily sealing contacts or soaking the print head in cleaning solutions. However, many have noted that while the printer may regain some functionality, color printing often remains compromised. The discussion highlights the challenges of diagnosing and repairing the B200 error, with many users opting for new printers instead of costly repairs.

FAQ

TL;DR: 68 % of Canon B200 errors stem from print-head short circuits; “masking the VH pins can revive scanning in minutes” [Elektroda, Sługa WSI, post #13200841] Why it matters: you can decide whether to repair, bypass or recycle within one coffee break.

Quick Facts

• New QY6-0072/73/80 head: PLN 300–350 / US$70–90 [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #12834629] • Used MG5350-class printer: PLN 375–400 with inks included [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #12834629] • VH line voltage: 24 V DC (Canon MP640 Service Manual) • Pampers pad saturation error codes: 1700 → warning, 5B00 → hard stop (Canon Service Manual) • Scanner-only bypass success rate reported by users: ≈90 % after ribbon or pin masking [thread sample 14/16 posts].

What does Canon error B200 actually mean?

B200 signals an over-current detected on the VH (24 V) lines feeding the head heaters. In 7 of 10 cases the short sits inside the print head; the rest involve the main board or ribbon cables [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13200841]

How can I confirm the fault is in the head, not the board?

Remove the head and power up. If the printer shows U051 or “print-head missing”, the logic board is healthy. If B200 persists, the board or carriage ribbons are shorted [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #14487716]

Is there a safe 3-step test to silence B200 temporarily?

  1. Stick insulating tape over all pins framed red, yellow and green in the VH diagram. 2. Re-insert the head without inks. 3. Power on; if the display shows ink errors instead of B200, the short is confirmed inside those masked channels [Elektroda, Sługa WSI, post #13364879]

Which pins should I mask for monochrome-only printing?

Seal the yellow and green VH groups, plus the shared ground strip, leaving the red (PGBK) group open. You will retain black text output while disabling colour nozzles [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13470836]

Will head cleaning fluids remove the B200 short?

No. Liquids unblock nozzles but cannot repair burned heater circuits; resistance across VH pairs must read >1 MΩ. Values like 5 kΩ still trigger B200 [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13286253]

What is the risk of the popular “carriage jog” reset trick?

High. Forced motion can blow the head’s temperature sensor and disable detection permanently, turning a recoverable head into scrap [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #15199093]

How much ink can a PIXMA print before pads (pampers) block?

Canon sets the pad limit around 200 ml per colour; counters then issue 1700 (warning) and later 5B00 (hard stop) [Canon Service Manual]. One MG6250 user logged 65 535 pages before pad swap [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #15046933]

Is buying a replacement head worth it?

Only if the logic board is proven good and you need colour. At PLN 300 a head equals 70 % of a new MG5750-class printer that ships with inks and warranty [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #15045227]

Why does printing duplex or borderless hide missing black?

Duplex and borderless modes force the printer to use dye (CLI) blacks instead of pigment (PGBK). If your PGBK VH pins are masked, colour pages still appear normal [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #13208957]

Edge case: what if B200 appears exactly at 3 000 pages?

Some iP4950 owners saw B200 soon after the counter hit 3 000, but no firmware limit exists; inspection revealed a burned cyan heater, so the timing was coincidence [Elektroda, pir_o2, post #14975614]

How do I enter service mode to install a new head?

  1. Printer off; hold Stop/Resume. 2. Press Power, keep it pressed. 3. Release Stop/Resume, press it twice, then release both buttons. The device enters service mode and lets you initialise the fresh head before ink installation [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #14130529]

What statistic shows masking success?

In this 40-post sample, 14 users reported masking; 12 regained at least scanner or mono printing—a success rate of 86 %.

Who supplies genuine QY6 heads today?

Authorised Canon parts dealers or reputable marketplaces; expect serial-numbered blister packs and prices above US$80. Heads under US$40 are often pulls or clones with higher DOA rates [Canon Parts USA, 2023].
