Hello, when sitting on the computer, sometimes there is a sound like when something is connected to the USB port. Happens on its own and sometimes. I only have a keyboard in usb. The mouse has a usb to ps2 adapter. This has been happening for several days.

    No viruses.

Depending on your sound settings, not only the physical connection of the device causes these sounds. Go to device manager and force search for hardware. Check if any new device is detected. Also, maybe the transition between usb ps/2 is faulty?

    Sorry for replying so late.

Sounds checked. Only plug and unplug has one. The manager doesn't detect anything new.

During this beep, it supposedly connects - mass storage device - generic usb sm reader usb device

What is it from? mass storage? I guess that was what caused the beeping. Nothing happens after uninstalling. I'll let you know tomorrow if it's still there.

According to the device manager, the driver for the USB controller on the CD is not installed.
Look for the CD that came with your motherboard and download the NForce drivers from the manufacturer's website.
The second item (mass storage device) is a card reader connected to the USB port. Driver installation will probably be required as well, but first enable the USB ports properly.

I also have a similar problem, except that the usb connection sound appears right after booting the system and only then. Device manager doesn't detect anything new.

And for 10 minutes all the time as if someone was plugging and unplugging the usb. In device manager under "HID Interface Devices" I have:
Microdoft USB Wheel Mouse optical and USB Input Device,
Every time I hear a beep, a third item appears or disappears (alternately), namely "HID Compliant Device"
I will add that in recent days it has been happening, but sporadically, and when I had a pendrive connected at the moment, after this sound it showed me that the disk needed to be formatted because the disk was removed incorrectly (although I did not remove it). I will be grateful for any tips.
    Regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an issue where users experience intermittent USB connection and disconnection sounds on a system equipped with an AMD Athlon X2 3600+ processor and NVIDIA GT 220 GPU. The original poster reports that the sound occurs randomly, with only a keyboard connected via USB and a mouse using a USB to PS/2 adapter. Responses suggest checking device manager for new hardware, potential issues with the USB ports or devices, and the need for proper driver installation for USB controllers and card readers. Some users report similar experiences, indicating possible hardware conflicts or faulty connections, particularly with non-original USB devices or weak connectors.
