Hi. The call bell is terribly loud. There is what is legally a volume potentiometer but it only handles the volume when someone speaks to at the gate - the bell does not adjust. Question: what can be done to turn down this terrible ringing sound?

Perhaps an 8-32Ω resistor in series with the speaker is sufficient? Possibly even bigger if too loud

I didn't do anything, it stopped bothering me.
