Hello everyone. After reading various posts, I did not find a similar one, so I assume another one related to HDI and EGR. Well, I got a Peugeot with the typical symptoms of a damaged EGR. After PP diagnosis, two continuous errors P0490 EGR insufficient performance, valve closed too close to reference value, and P0401- Measured air quantity higher than set value. After verification, everything is nice. They were substituted from another Partner set. EGR, i.e. EGR valve + loading, cooler and pipe connecting the cooler with the manifold, throttle and flow. The catalyst was also unfastened. Unfortunately, after firing, it works once, once it does not work in the parameters. One time it is 212 and another time 420. Also while driving, you can go 10 km and you can 100m and it closes, causing errors as above. I decided to substitute the engine controller and still unchanged. While driving, the set EGR parameters reach up to 850 and the measured one reaches up to 1000. The turbine pushes 2050 mbar and here the set parameters are practically identical with the real ones. Also book fuel parameters. Where else to look for the cause of this EGR?

After replacing the EGR, the adaptation data must be deleted and the EGR must be re-adapted. Necessarily on a warm engine at least 70 ° C. The computer will carry out the adaptation by itself when stationary or while driving, providing guidance to the driver. The problem disappeared after such fun in 407 2.0.

I have a question: How to remove and clean the EGR in the Peugeot 308 SW. According to for me it is on the back of the engine and there is no access there.
    Help.

Thanks for the information. A friend has a plus.
    I have one more question.
Can the error regarding the adaptation of the EGR valve be caused by the use of the car on short distances - 10 km to work and back home once or twice a month, about 100 km?
I will be very grateful for the tips because I can see that we have an expert.

Often there are problems with the previously working or new part. Maybe the EGR that you replaced just like the previous one is stuck?

You'll shut down this great engine with this kind of service. Indeed, the valve could be messed up in this case. "Adaptation" is made when the ignition is turned on. If there is an error, the valve probably does not close or does not open fully or the electronics believe it (damage to the position sensor, for example). Therefore, I repeat: in my experience, cleaning has never done anything.

This situation has been bothering me for some time. The wife and children travel by car to school and work 10 km one way. It is true that I change the oil often (10,000) along with the filters. However, from Monday they will be swapped for cars :) . I will watch the EGR and from Monday it will be heated over a distance of 60 km every day and 180 km once. Comments and tips are welcome.

I have an EEPROM crash, and why I don't know. I have uploaded the new batch and everything works as needed.

Well, apparently recently, it often happens that electronics for an unknown reason break down or generate IT errors. Maybe because the Chinese have already specialized in everything and even BOSCH sticks only its stamps on their products.

I would start by bending the contacts in the plug of the flow meter and EGR. Then you have to drive with the computer and check the values of the flowmeter (the data from it control the opening of the EGR), whether the set and actual values coincide. For me, only the replacement of the flow meter eliminated all EGR errors

    >>14716788 Hello, I know it's been a few years but I have a question with what you uploaded the eeprom, I don't know what to do. I bought the car but found out I was cheated. The car had the dpf cut out, ran fine for a month, now the egr error p0403 has popped up. I found the mechanic who did it and he says it's the turbo compressor. The turbo has been taken out and everything is working fine. The car has no power and smokes black. And the obd only shows two errors P0403, P0406, could it be the turbo?

Recently with another HDi a similar problem. Again, the batch is out. I have already mastered the EGR topic on the HDi to perfection. Faults in HDI are easy to deal with, so there is no need to be discouraged by these engines. The important thing is that all parameters are within normal limits and it will return the favor with longevity. Topic to be closed.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the Peugeot Partner 1.6 HDI experiencing EGR-related error codes P0490 and P0401, indicating insufficient EGR performance and measured air quantity issues. Users suggest that after replacing the EGR valve and associated components, it is crucial to delete adaptation data and re-adapt the EGR on a warm engine. Some participants argue that cleaning the EGR is ineffective and recommend replacement instead. Others highlight the potential impact of short-distance driving on EGR functionality. Additionally, issues with electronic components, such as the flow meter and EEPROM, are mentioned as possible causes of persistent errors. The conversation emphasizes the importance of proper diagnostics and the need for thorough checks of all related components.
