    Hello
The ignition has broken in my 1.6 GLI Polonaise. 95r. I would buy a new one, but it costs as much as possible :( PLN 120.00, and the used one is a problem to find. If I knew how to fire it briefly until I buy an ignition switch or put a switch on. But without your help, nothing of it.
Please tell me as soon as possible.
    Best regards to PytonPL

Better do not mess with anything, only thieves do not respect someone else's cars and act like that. Doing so may incur additional costs. Better buy a new one or a used one.

In order to start up, you need to permanently short the current wire, it will be the thickest wire, the clamp seems to be No. 30 with the wire from the terminal No. 15, this is the ignition, and for a moment touching the wire No. 50, it is the starter

I know it's best to buy a new one or a used one, but sometimes you have to make a deal for a week or two. Thanks for the answer.
    Greetings.

My answer from here because I'm careful with electrics. Once I made a short circuit on the battery cables and my tractor was on fire :) Always be careful with the electrician.

Best regards and I wish you the ignition switch as soon as possible :)

Oh well, not a bad achievement ... :) thanks for the warning, I'll be careful.
    Thank you.

    Added after 3 [minutes]:

Go check the combination of these wires. I'll let you know :) .
    Keep fingers crossed.

    Added after 34 [minutes]:

I've been to see if I can fire it, but unfortunately the wires are not numbered, but only in four colors, red, black, blue and brown. And what now :( :)

One of these cables will have +12 V all the time. This is the power supply. One cord for the pacemaker. If you connect it to this 12 V, it will turn off. The next one powers the car's installation. this additional one would have to look at the schematic.
I used to do so that when someone had an ignition switch, and he did not have money or time for a new one, I would hang one from a beetle. Wires were fastened, everything was insulated and it was on. You just need to ABSOLUTELY remove the steering lock !!!!
And anyway, did you have this mechanically complete ignition switch, or only the electric cube in it?

I fell mechanically or completely, the lock works, the lights work after turning. And I also have a problem because I'm a layman in this, so that I would know exactly what and how :) .... What color would be great for :)

How is it mechanically? Since the key turns and detaches the lock, it means that your cube in the ignition has fallen. Its cost is about PLN 30, I think. You unscrew the plastic column cover, from the ignition switch housing you remove two M3.5 screws (I think) you slide out a plastic cube from which the wires come out. The wires themselves, on the other hand, are disconnected from the ankle, probably a four-pin one. You go to the store with her and buy a new one. Then you assemble it in the reverse order: cube into ankle and spin. And it should work.

only that it is visible that it is cracked, on this side as the key is inserted. You may be right, but I really need a car now and tomorrow morning

    Hello.
If the controls work after turning the key, the matter is very simple.
I made such a makeshift in a Ford, it has been driving and starting for two years :D
Try to get a switch that can switch the current of about 10A, lead the voltage directly from the battery to the switch. To the second contact of the switch, lead the wire to the starter coil.

And by the way: it is definitely a crack, or maybe just a flaw on the casting? Where is it exactly? does the key enter and exit the ignition normally? Does it twist without resistance or other problems? does the lock work? If so, replace only this cube and that's it.

At first glance, it works without any problems. After turning, zero reaction, but the lights do not go out (the mechanic said that the ignition switch is broken, but do I know). Maybe it's this bone. greetings

That is, it turns on everything except the starter ?? If so, check where you have a permanent plus, turn the ignition switch, turn the cable to this plus and look for the cube on which it will turn.

    Hello
    Fixed + (30) on brown
    Starter (50) on red
After the ignition is turned on, voltage is present on all cables except the red one
You can also, after turning on the ignition, supply voltage to a single connector on the cable going from the ignition switch to the starter near the battery
    greetings

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an ignition issue in a 1995 1.6 GLI Polonaise, where the user seeks a temporary fix due to the high cost of a new ignition switch (PLN 120.00) and difficulty finding a used one. Various responses suggest methods to bypass the ignition switch by shorting specific wires, identifying wire colors, and using a makeshift switch. Users emphasize caution with electrical components and recommend checking the wiring diagram for proper connections. The conversation also touches on the possibility of replacing just the ignition switch cube if the mechanical lock is functional.
