Gentlemen, the management of the community intends to install a weathervane in a block of flats.The block was built using a traditional method in the 1950s.The block is uninsulated,plastered and consists of three staircases.The building is three-storey,with 12 flats in each staircase.Four flats are 38 m each and 8 are 50 m each.In all the flats there is an old central heating system with cast-iron radiators and old spindle valves.The valves cannot be closed, I am afraid to move them.The radiators have not been flushed for decades.The heat supplier is MPGKiM which has a new generation boiler house for woodchips and has a weathervane in the AKPiA.Gentlemen, what can be the cost of replacing all the valves and adapting them to control by means of the weathervane.I would be grateful for suggestions.

My opinion is the same as yours, but please give me arguments with which I can convince the board at the owners' meeting. All the pros and cons. The board presented an amount of about 10,000 zloty. Is such a price possible? What traps can the contractor set, because I don't believe in savings resulting from the installation of a weathervane.

Better spend the money earmarked for the weatherman on flushing radiators and thermoregulation valves.

You are right, however, how to "explain" this to tenants in a "vascular" manner.

In order for such a weathervane to contribute something to the heating system (apart from its existence), the system should be able to regulate individual radiators and not have great heat losses (thermal insulation of the building). Only then can we talk about economy. We can only talk about comfort when there are temperature readings in individual flats and even rooms.
To me, this topic looks like a search for a subject to make money, and it can be compared to installing electric windows in a decrepit old car

This was also my impression at the community meeting, as the chairman of the community and the lady from the management board clearly lobbied for only one contractor, which is why I asked you gentlemen for an explanation so that I could explain the nonsense of such moves to them at the meeting on 27.04.2015.

Ask that before the vote, ZWM should provide the community with a calculation of what the savings will be and when they will be recouped. Enter your conclusion in the minutes of the meeting. If anything, you will be able to challenge a resolution that will expose the community to pointless expenditure.

Knowing life, if you persist, ZWM will make you out to be a conman who doesn't want the community to save money on its heating bills. 99% of people don't know anything about technical matters and listen to what ZWM spreads, but try to find allies among the owners.
