    Hello

Which plastic pipes are best for high-temperature CO installation? Which ones can stand cooking the longest?

Can PEX-Al-PEX bolted joints be twisted and unscrewed many times? Do you need to replace an o-ring, a piece of pipe or maybe even the entire fitting with every twist?

    Regards

I don't know, the water in my CO boils at about 110 degrees and the manufacturers of these pipes say that they allow short-term operation up to 110 degrees. If the plastics were so weak, the cooling systems in cars would be copper ...

only that this "work" can be one-off, because the structure of molecules bonds changes in them.

at what temperature for different types of plastics?

Radiation cross-linked pexc pipes are the most resistant. Pe-HD and PERT are weaker, so they are often used for outer layers. The method of producing pipes is also of great importance, whether the alu tape is butt-welded (best) by laser, welded, overlapped and crimped, and the adhesive joining the individual layers. So the claim that all alupexes are the same and differ only in price is ... worth it.
Especially with twisted connectors, I would recommend better grades, as pert and hd tend to flow under the influence of long-lasting force, which can weaken the connections. I use weaker and cheaper types only with the investor's full awareness, only for underfloor heating. It has low parameters and connections only at the distributor. The only risky place is when going through expansion joints, so you need to carefully build them and keep an eye on the floor.

Topic summary

The discussion centers on the suitability of various plastic pipes for high-temperature carbon monoxide (CO) installations, specifically PEX/AL/PEX, PERT/AL/PERT, and PP-R SDR. Participants express skepticism about the durability of these materials under high temperatures, with some suggesting that all three types may not withstand boiling conditions. It is noted that radiation cross-linked PEX pipes exhibit the highest resistance, while PERT and PE-HD are considered weaker and often used for outer layers. The method of production, particularly the quality of aluminum tape welding, significantly impacts performance. Concerns are raised about the longevity of bolted joints in PEX-Al-PEX systems, with recommendations for using higher-grade materials to prevent failure under sustained pressure. The discussion highlights the importance of careful installation, especially at expansion joints.
