Gentlemen, I got a LenovoG505s laptop on the LA-A091p board has a charging problem. The guest brought 2 batteries, one in the system does not see the other, but there is a message "connected, not charging" I disassembled these two batteries, they are L12M4E01 type, both of them were deeply discharged, one packet had 6.6V, the other had 4.4V. That's why I told the visitor to buy a new battery, he said he would buy the original. The battery came to me but the laptop does not start charging :( . The orange charge lamp flashes then goes off after one minute. There is a message under the system "connected, not charging" . I wanted to check the date of production of the battery, but the seal is stuck on, I don't know if not especially.
I have 0V on the battery sheets, but I read on the forum in the guide that there are different batteries, one has a direct output, the other is turned on as they "talk" to KBC.
I would like to add that on a new battery, the laptop without power supply does not turn on.
All the batteries are original Lenovo, unfortunately the new one, I cannot disassemble and check the voltage on the cells.
When powered from the power supply, the battery strips are +/- 5.7V

Under the Batterymon program (new battery) I have the following reading:

    Status: AC POWERED
    Manufactured: SIMPLO
    Device name: Pabas0241231
    Serial Number: 41167
    Unique ID: 41167
    Time remaining: AC power
    batt temp: N / A
    Type of use: Normal operation
    Recharable: YES
    chemistry: LiON
    Design capacity: 0Wh / 0mAh
    Current Capacity: 0Wh / 0mAh
    Alert Level: W: 0 / L: 0
    Critical Bias: None
    Charge cycles: N / A
    Voltage: 2.436V
    Charge rate 0mW

Gentlemen, what else can be checked to eliminate the battery defect? Is it damage to the charger circuit?

    Regards
    Michael

Including Link you have given SM.

There, the charger is BQ24727 and the power supply is connected via a 3-pin socket (with ADP_ID)
The measurements on the bq727 will tell you a lot
    There stby for two circuits. : PU401 - 3V, PU403- 5V

    Hello, this board is
    REV: 1A
    LA-A091p
    VALGC / GD

The new battery has exactly the same parameters as you write (all 3 have such parameters).
You do not know if this model of battery should have voltage on the contacts when removed from the laptop?
The procedure recommended by Lenovo doesn't help. After this procedure, the orange LED flashes for about a minute and goes out.

Apart from the fact that it does not charge the laptop on the power supply, it is working properly, in addition, the previous two batteries that I got (one was supposed to be 100% efficient) turned out to be completely discharged after unsticking and probably blocked by the controller, so my fears not to fix something good. I also did not deal with a damaged charger.

    See datasheet BQ24707, app
    - measure, for example, the voltage on the ACOK pin (responsible for charging Aku)
    - there is reference number Invers. (i.e. 0 is ok)
    - oscilloscope and measure "data exchange" after SDA

    * ACN ACP measurements.
    - on the power supply - voltage from the power supply (19V),
    - on Aku - battery voltage approx. 11-12V

    Come on Aku
Lenovo G505s LA-A091p - Not loading - message "connected, not charging"

    With Aku
Lenovo G505s LA-A091p - Not loading - message "connected, not charging"

    Pin.7

Interesting on Elvikom Link_ is not loading

And from the Lenovo forum Link

Sorry buddy @lisek, because you are reliable as always :) for now I have a mill and it is difficult for me to tame the topic. But I will write what I did. I put this laptop together I went to the battery store to check if something was wrong with the battery I put a replacement I turned on the laptop it started (on the previous ones it did not even groan) I connected the power supply under the system message "Charging connected" I thought okay it's not bad, I bought this battery .
At home, I wanted to perform a charging and discharging cycle, I noticed that despite the message it is charging, but the voltage on the battery is dropping, so I will have to dig through the topic of the charger.
I will add that the batery mon program now shows the battery capacity, the charge level and the voltage on the cells 14.4V. On the original one, it showed, as I wrote above, 2.4V, that is, it has been drained to zero and blocked in power management, the state of the cell: damaged.

For now, I took the battery out of the laptop so that it would not discharge.

If the above information prompted any conclusions, I would be grateful for your help. For now, at least I have a working battery for testing and I have to send the previous one back.
By the way, how can such batteries be sold as working :( and for such money.

    Regards, Michał

Hello, I took out the board and for the time being "cold" I measured the charger circuit, I found a damaged 2.2? PR320 resistor and a short circuit between the legs 17, 19 PU301.

I ordered the bq727 chip, although the board has bq737, I hope these are replacements.

    Raczej nie pójdzie jako zamiennik.

    Dla niego dobre:

    REGN 6V
    #ACOK 0V (aktywny)
    PACIN ma byc 3,3V > brak lub 0V> pq307/pq308 i elementy w ich otoczeniu

    * jak ACDET pin.6) masz 2,7V oraz ACOK 4V to IC do kosza

    Z datasheet bq24707
    Quote:
    ACOK#
AC adapter detect open drain output. It is pulled LOW to GND by an internal MOSFET when the voltage on the ACDET pin is above 2.4V, voltage on the VCC pin is above UVLO and voltage on the VCC pin is 245mV above the voltage on the SRN pin, indicating a valid adapter is present to start charge. If any one of the above conditions cannot meet, it is pulled HIGH to the external pull-up supply rail by an external pull-up resistor. Connect a 10kΩ pull-up resistor from the ACOK pin to the pull-up supply rail

    On Elvikom they write:

    Laptop: Lenovo B50-70
    Motherboard: LA-B092P r1.0
    Chip: BQ24737
    Replace with: BQ24727
    Positive result
    Additional steps: none

I hope it will go. The system came to me, I will replace the damaged elements and let me know if it went well.
Anyway, it would be strange that the diagram of this board is BQ727, the application should be the same, but we'll see.

    Regards
    Michael

Added after 5 [hours] 39 [minutes]:

After replacing the BQ24737 with BQ24727 (the short circuit between pins 17 and 19 is resolved) and the resistor PR320 = 2.2 ?, the battery charging works.

Thank you very much @lisek for your support, maybe the post will be useful for those fighting with Lenovo

    Regards
    Michael

Topic summary

The Lenovo G505s laptop with the LA-A091p motherboard is experiencing a charging issue, indicated by the message "connected, not charging." The user tested two L12M4E01 batteries, both of which were deeply discharged. A new battery was purchased, but the laptop still does not charge, and the orange LED indicator flashes before turning off. Various troubleshooting steps were suggested, including measuring voltages on the BQ24727 charger IC and checking for shorts or damaged components on the motherboard. After replacing a damaged resistor and the BQ24737 chip with a BQ24727, the charging issue was resolved, allowing the battery to charge properly.
