    Good day.
    I have a Lenovo G710 Win 8.1 laptop
After 2 weeks of non-use (after returning from vacation), the message "connected, not charging" and information that the battery level is 1% appeared.
On the power supply with the battery connected, it works normally, starts up etc ...
i bought the original battery thinking it just used up but there is the same message on the new battery.
I do not know about measurements and I wanted to ask if it is possible that it is a charger (if it works), or something in the computer and you need to take it somewhere for repair.
    ...
I remembered one more thing - before I bought the battery - I checked what model I have by doing Battery report and generated the file. In this file, the name of my battery was wrong - it was a different model than it really is ...
I do not know if this information is important

When I'm home tonight, I'll do a test. Where to safely download BatteryMon?
After disconnecting the power adapter, the laptop turns off (black screen and the LED is on for a moment)

Preferably from the manufacturer's side. ;)
You enter https://www.passmark.com/products/batmon.htm and click Download now to the right.
Do you have the option to test the laptop on a different power supply?
    greetings

So this new battery is also damaged? The message was immediately after connecting a new battery. I was surprised that there is no power on the new battery, I thought that, as with cell phones, there is always a little charge

Thank you for the website ...
Unfortunately, I do not have another power supply. but I will check, maybe one at my place will be similar.

A new battery should have enough energy to run the laptop (usually around 50%, but due to the regulations on air transport of Li-ion cells, you can meet the level not exceeding 30%).
    Post screenshots for both batteries.
    greetings

I have this program, but I don't know what to attach Lenovo G710 not charging - message "connected, not charging 1%"
    The point is?
This is from the new one and the battery is L11S6Y01 and I can see that this program also gives a different name for the battery than it is

And now for the old battery - it's a few years old ...

Both batteries are incorrectly detected by the laptop - this indicates problems with the laptop (problems with communication between the laptop and the battery).

Thank you for your answer. So a computer to be repaired.
Or maybe it can be fixed with some program? Or a reset?

    Welcome back.
The computer has repaired. Unfortunately, I did not witness a message ... My wife saw a message that you need to (as she claims) restart something for proper loading.
She doesn't remember the content of it, only that it just popped up and then it reset itself (because she didn't want to reset) and it started working.

I am adding something from myself only now, because I was compulsorily reworking the topic. Lenovo G710 now with Windows 10. Probably also bought around 2015. The original battery lasted a short time after charging, so I bought a replacement for Allegro, which was supposed to also fit the G710. Unfortunately, it did not fit, the laptop kept crashing the message that it did not recognize this battery. And it turned out that he was right. The original battery for the Lenovo G710 has the symbol exactly like this - L11S6Y01 3INR19 / 65-2. On Allegro, many people sell the L11M6Y01 Y480 battery as being compatible with the Lenovo G710. Lenovo laptops, as some fachman told me, have this to themselves that they need the right batteries, not replacements. Fortunately, there is a guest on Allegro who sells the right ones and the one received from him works fine.

Topic summary

✨ The Lenovo G710 laptop is experiencing a "connected, not charging" issue, displaying a battery level of 1% after two weeks of inactivity. The user replaced the original battery with a new one, but the same message persists. Responses suggest checking battery information using the BatteryMon software and testing the laptop with a different power supply. It was noted that both batteries were incorrectly detected, indicating potential communication issues between the laptop and the batteries. A user shared that the original battery model for the G710 is L11S6Y01, and emphasized the importance of using the correct battery model to avoid compatibility issues. Ultimately, the laptop was repaired after a reset, resolving the charging problem.

FAQ

TL;DR: Lenovo G710 showing “Plugged in, not charging (1%)”? “A new battery should have enough energy,” typically ~50% on arrival (≤30% by air). Most cases trace to battery–laptop communication or a wrong battery model/ID. Use BatteryMon and verify FRU L11S6Y01. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17383814]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps Lenovo G710 owners quickly diagnose and fix no‑charge symptoms without costly guesswork.

Quick Facts

Why does my Lenovo G710 say “Plugged in, not charging (1%)”?

That message appears when the system sees the adapter but will not accept charge from the pack. Causes include SMBus communication faults on the board, bad battery ID, or a non‑compatible FRU. If both your old and new packs misreport details, suspect the laptop, not the batteries. Confirm detection with BatteryMon, then try a known‑good, correct FRU pack. If misdetection persists, seek board‑level service for the battery interface or EC. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17385363]

Will a brand‑new battery have charge out of the box?

Yes. A new battery should arrive with usable energy, typically around 50% state of charge. Air‑shipped lithium packs may ship at 30% or less. The laptop should power on briefly on battery alone. Zero runtime from a new pack points to detection issues or the wrong FRU. Replace with the exact L11S6Y01 model and retest. “A new battery should have enough energy to run the laptop.” [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17383814]

Which battery model actually fits the G710, and which “compatible” one should I avoid?

For the Lenovo G710, use battery L11S6Y01 with marking 3INR19/65‑2. Avoid L11M6Y01 units marketed for the Y480. Many listings label them “compatible” with G710, but the laptop refuses them. Symptom examples include “battery not recognized” and charging stuck at 1%. Confirm the FRU printed on the pack before buying. If you already have the wrong pack, return it and source the correct FRU. [Elektroda, Axel152, post #18247226]

My G710 shuts off immediately when I unplug AC. What does that indicate?

If the machine dies the moment you pull AC, the battery is not powering the board. That often means the pack is not detected or the battery communication path is faulty. Try the correct FRU pack and retest. If both old and new packs fail identically, the fault is in the laptop. Seek service for the battery interface or embedded controller. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17385363]

How do I confirm if Windows is reading the battery correctly?

Install BatteryMon and open Info → Battery information. Check Manufacturer, Designed capacity, and Status. Mismatch or nonsense values mean the system is not reading the pack properly. Capture screenshots for each battery to compare behavior. How‑To: 1. Install BatteryMon. 2. Run Info → Battery information. 3. Save screenshots for old and new packs. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17383745]

Can a software or EC reset fix this without repair?

Yes. One case resolved after the system displayed a prompt to reset charging logic, then rebooted automatically. After that reset, charging worked normally. Accept such prompts when they appear. If you see none, a full shutdown and restart can still refresh the controller. “It reset itself ... and it started working.” [Elektroda, popsutaamica, post #17393004]

Should I test with a different AC adapter?

Yes. Testing with another known‑good adapter of the correct voltage and wattage rules out a weak power brick. A failing adapter can hold the laptop on, yet never deliver charge current. If a second adapter behaves the same, focus on the battery and laptop interface. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17383804]

Windows misreports my battery’s model name. Is that a problem?

Incorrect battery model reporting is not normal. It points to communication problems between the system and the pack. That condition also explains “plugged in, not charging” at 1%. Confirm with BatteryMon. If both packs misreport, plan for board‑level diagnosis or service. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17385363]

What does “Both batteries are incorrectly detected” actually mean?

It signals a laptop‑side fault, not two bad batteries. “Both batteries are incorrectly detected by the laptop” is the key clue. The SMBus lines or the embedded controller may be at issue. Repair targets include the battery connector, EC firmware, or related circuitry. Proceed to service if reseating and correct FRU testing fail. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17385363]

How do I tell if a replacement pack is the wrong FRU for G710?

Check the label on the battery for L11S6Y01 and 3INR19/65‑2. If you see L11M6Y01 or Y480, it is the wrong pack. Windows may display “battery not recognized” or refuse charging. Sellers sometimes list Y480 packs as G710 compatible. Return and order the exact FRU instead. [Elektroda, Axel152, post #18247226]

I replaced the battery and still see 1%. What should I try next?

First, reseat the pack and lock the latches firmly. Then open BatteryMon and verify the battery fields. If values are missing or wrong, the laptop is not communicating with the pack. Try a verified L11S6Y01 pack. If symptoms persist across packs, schedule service for the battery interface. [Elektroda, Dydelmax, post #17385363]
