I am trying to add RAM memory to the ASUS A555LN-XO112H. Currently, I have a standard configuration, i.e. 4GB, I would like to increase to the maximum amount. I was looking on the internet, I can not find a specific maximum amount somewhere I read that 12GB can anyone confirm? And is there only one RAM slot in this laptop? I found somewhere that 4GB are permanently on the motherboard and you can add 8GB in an additional slot. Total 12GB. I could ask colleagues to confirm or correct this information. What 8GB chip would be compatible and work with this laptop. Thanks in advance.

Unscrew the flap from the bottom of the laptop and check if you have a free memory chip slot. Alternatively, take a photo and insert it.

Download AIDA64 program and insert screen from "Motherboard" -> "SPD" tab.

At 90%, you will have a free slot for one frame bone, rather max 12GB as in most Asus. But it's best to do as a colleague says above, we will check what exactly is the bone, we will choose something.

    It looks like:

I guess it looks like one module is permanently in the 4GB motherboard and the other slot is empty? Now the question is how big a bone can be put in there and what is the best ... from what I can see 1.5v DDR3, but how much can it be?

One 4 GB module is soldered on the motherboard, and the other can be added to a free slot under the flap.

You can add 4 GB DDR3 SODIMM with the same parameters (frequency, timings, voltage) as the soldered memory.

You can also use the program CPU-Z and insert screen from Memory tab and SPD.

Does this mean that I can put the maximum of 4GB there? 8GB will not go? Honestly, I want to add the maximum amount of RAM, and this is where I think about 8GB, unless it's impossible.

@perlit I wrote about AIDA64 due to the fact that in CPU-Z it does not show the name of the bone manufacturer but only the type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3), and in AIDA64 it often shows the full name (Hynix, Samsung, Wilk Elektronik, etc.).

@ wiewior007 Download AIDA64 program and insert screen from "Motherboard" -> "SPD" tab. Then it will be known what you have.

I checked the SPD, I have empty: /, The only thing that can be useful is:

    You have "Samsung SODIMM DDR3 1600MHz 4GB"

    Buy such a bone:

    Should be OK.

One more question, so that I should be calm because from what I can see, the bone you sent me has 1.35V and there is an inscription on the socket: 1.5V DDR3

Should it be 1.35V or 1.5V, because, as far as I know, they do not always work interchangeably?

In the SPD tab you can select slot 1 or slot 2. Select the slot where the memory is and insert screen.

As I said in AIDA, the SPD tab is empty. I checked the same effect in CPU-Z: /

Run CPU-Z as Administrator. If it doesn't help, download the program Speccy . Find the SPD tab in the RAM section.

Unfortunately, the SPD tabs are not visible in CPU-Z and in AIDA with administrator rights or in Speccy. Today, however, I borrowed 4GB 1.5V, 4GB 1.35V and 8GB 1.35V bones and I tested which chip will work.

ASUS A555LN-XO112H Laptop RAM Upgrade: 12GB Max, 4GB Onboard + 8GB Compatible Chip Info

It turned out that the laptop turned on on the 4GB 1.5V chip, but the system only saw 4GB (those on the motherboard). I replaced the 1.35V chip, first the 4GB worked without a problem, the 8GB 1.35V chip worked and the system saw a total of 12GB. I have no idea why there is a 1.5V DDR3 inscription on the socket because these bones do not work: /.

To sum up, someone will be looking one day - the ASUS A555L is compatible with 1.35V bones
@ atomic99 was right and the bone he gave fits without any problems (photo below the module that was installed).
