    Hello,
I am thinking of buying a listening scanner, but the only contact I had was with them when I was trying to eavesdrop on our services. now I'm completely off topic. I am looking for a fairly cheap mobile device (walkie-talkie) I do not need to hear bandwidth for planes. I don't plan on installing a separate antenna for now.

thank you for the great suggestions, but I bought UV-5R maybe too hastily, we'll see how it will work, although I don't expect miracles

For future I recommend TYT TH UV3R as a SCANNER for cheap quinolines.

The UV-5R lacks such useful things as:
    1. Naming memory locations from the radio
    2. Inability to add and mask memory cells from the scanned list (in scanners it is the SKIP function).

Interesting facts - TYT TH UV3R, after unlocking the computer, acts as a 3 flag - you can listen to e.g. shattered USARMA satellites at 255.550 MHz and has a much better housing (material).

Let's start with the fact that the UV-5R is not a scanner, but rather a portable radio. This is not the receiver itself. I don't know how much you gave him. When it comes to listening scanners themselves, UNIDEN generally has a nice offer, e.g. UBC75XLT. It costs a few pennies, but if you want something more expensive it's worth it. And remember that the receiver is one thing. Your location is important, or rather the location of your antenna. And the antenna itself. River theme.

On the other hand, if you bought a transceiver then maybe you might be interested in amateur radio? Maybe you have an amateur club nearby? You already have the first radio station :) Now get ready, get a license and you can broadcast something :)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around recommendations for affordable listening scanners and walkie-talkies. The user initially sought a budget-friendly mobile device without the need for advanced features like aircraft bandwidth reception or external antennas. Responses highlighted the UV-5R model, which the user purchased, but noted it is primarily a portable radio rather than a true scanner. Suggestions included the TYT TH UV3R for its scanning capabilities and features like memory management. The UNIDEN UBC75XLT was also recommended as a cost-effective listening scanner. The importance of antenna location and quality was emphasized for effective reception.
