I suspect that this "box" had filters and silencers inside. See directly on the cable if you have an analog signal with the device for which you need the signal.

If without a power supply, this box is most likely just filters. Anyway, I would check if there is an analog signal in the bare cable itself.

It would seem that the matter is simple - just install the Splitter 1/2 (4db) However, the parameters of the modem in the Horizon decoder will change (UPC no longer uses TRIS type splitters with a return path filter for the analog output) It is best to order additional installations from the operator sockets, cost PLN 50. The technician will install the appropriate components - crimp connectors, cable, splitter. We have guarantees for the service and we are sure that any subsequent service will not be paid.

Of course, TRIS splitters have a return path filter (for analog output) and do not ingress, such have been used in UPC for a long time, as well as separate K / Z attenuators. However, they have not been installed recently, now 1/2 and 1/3 splitters with an appropriate plastic cover are provided and such splitters are mounted on installations and modernizations of installations in the customer's apartment. What was the reason why UPC stopped assembling Tris - I don't know.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around connecting terrestrial TV programs to UPC's HORIZON decoder after a recent upgrade from an older analog setup. Users suggest checking the existing cable for an analog signal and recommend using a multimedia crossover instead of a splitter to avoid interference with the provider's network. It is advised to contact UPC for professional installation, as they can provide the necessary components and ensure proper assembly, which includes crimp connectors, cables, and splitters. The conversation highlights the transition from TRIS type splitters to newer models and the implications of this change on signal quality and installation practices.
