I have the following problem: I'm currently using a graphics card with DVI output (and D-sub and HDMI),
however, I found a new monitor that only has a Displayport and D-sub connector.
So the problem is how to connect it. I would prefer to avoid D-sub, hence the question or use
will DisplayPort to DVI adapters give a better effect? Maybe someone uses such a patent?

It's a digital signal all the time so it should work.

It should be because it looks different on different adapters.

A strange combination - what is this monitor model?

It should but will not be. The HDMI - DS converter costs over PLN 300. Change the graphics card or look at another monitor ;) It's a pity nerve. It's easy to get out of the DS graphics card to DVI or HDMI and the other way is not so easy.
Either DSUB or it won't work well.

As I found out, this adapter works only one way, tz from DisplayPort to DVI
Why this is so remains a mystery :)
I guess I will actually have to choose some other monitor, eh ...

I have been looking for a lot lately and it works like this. DP as the newest port is backwards compatible with all previous ones (HDMI DVI and even often D-SUB). Compatibility is that it contains them. But this description of the DP OUTPUT the monitor manufacturer does not make the input compatible with everything but only the compatible with DP. Therefore, you connect the passive adapter to the DP output of the graphics card and the active converter is needed the other way. And you can buy one but it costs PLN 300 +

But it works the other way than the author needs it right? Graphics card DP output and monitor DVI input.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around connecting a graphics card with DVI output to a monitor that only has DisplayPort and D-sub connectors. Users express concerns about the effectiveness of DisplayPort to DVI adapters, noting that while DVI is a digital signal, compatibility issues may arise. One user mentions the Dell P2016 monitor, which lacks a DVI port, leading to frustration. It is highlighted that DisplayPort to DVI adapters typically work only in one direction (from DisplayPort to DVI), and using a passive adapter from DVI to DisplayPort may not yield satisfactory results. The need for an active adapter is emphasized, which can be costly. A specific adapter from DeLock is mentioned as functioning well in some cases, although there are reports of failures with certain units.
