Hello, my board with Amd processor has only 2 slots for ram memory, the board according to the manufacturer supports max 8gb, however in Poland it is hard to find 4gb ram in one ddr2 chip In gta 5 I have no lag but looking at the charts during the game I have the whole ram occupied, I thought to do something about it, I do not want to replace the disc so I found a 4gb ddr2 framework in one bone and I would gladly buy such a memory to have at least 6gb, only the question whether it will work:

I see reviews are ok, I write that for AMD and I have AMD on the CD and stand, I ask because generally from what I know ddr2 4gb bones are hardly popular in Poland so I am wondering if it will work. I currently have 2x2gb and dual channel so it's worth changing to 6gb?

    GA-MA74GM-S2H (rev. 2.0).
Currently, I want to do something at the lowest cost :) there I will have 4gb for 35 PLN and free shipping the fact you have to wait but oki price and according to reviews these bones work for people. Well, I'm interested in one bone, I have invested too much in this scrap recently (proc, graph) to spend PLN 50 on the bone plus 15 shipments with time I would buy another :) And I'm wondering if there would be a dual channel with 2gb + 4 configuration, now I have 2x2 and it is (according to cpu-z) but in the past I had 2 + 1 and this dual channel was also :)

Will it work then you'll find out by buying or waiting for a response from someone who checked exactly the same configuration. (board model, memory module, BIOS version).

The manual of the disc notes that for two-channel operation it is recommended to use the same brand memory, capacity, frequency and memory chip distribution.
Usually it is enough to use memories with the same capacity, frequency and CL delays.
In your particular case, it's hard to judge.

The modules can operate in two Dual Channel modes - i.e. Symmetric or Asymmetric.

When filling with modules with different DC capacities, it will work in the latter mode, i.e. slower.

so leave 2x2 dual or aim at 2 + 4gb? so according to you

Of course, more RAM is a better option.

If everything breaks by $, buy this module and check - you will sell it the highest.

As a previous speaker, I would prefer to buy 2x4GB right away and if something was not working, you can easily return it within 10 days of purchase.

Still a question I currently have 2gb cl5 with 2gb cl6. The ones I want to buy have cl6, is it better for them also cl6?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around upgrading RAM on an AMD motherboard that currently has 2x2GB DDR2 RAM. The user is considering purchasing a 4GB DDR2 RAM stick to increase total memory to 6GB, despite concerns about compatibility and performance. Responses suggest that while the motherboard supports up to 8GB, using a single 4GB stick may not allow for dual-channel operation, which is optimal for performance. Some users recommend sticking with the current 2x2GB configuration for dual-channel benefits, while others suggest trying the 4GB stick as a cost-effective solution. The importance of matching RAM specifications, such as capacity and CL timings, is also highlighted.
