Hello colleagues, I have a serious problem with my Audica. It is a6 c5 2.5 tdi 1999 quattro in the automatic. The problem is that after a few days, about 3 days, the battery is discharged. At the beginning I disconnected the radio, but it didn't help, so I disconnected everything I could and it turned out that it was clocks. When I disconnect, the consumption is 0.01 A, and when I connect it is 0.40 A and when I connect between the clamp and the battery, a 2 W 12 V bulb is lit and what can be fixed now or buy second olx clocks are for 250-350 PLN, but it said that something still needs to be uploaded, so please answer someone who has any idea :)

And did your friend wait for the modules to `` sleep '' ??? The second clocks are of course an option, but first check the power consumption after about half an hour and look for a fault.

At the moment, stop listening to your electrician advisor, because the described way to get a light bulb is wrong and even harmful. There are many reasons not to do so.

no offense but what does that have to do with clocks?

Nothing to "clocks", but if you plan to damage your computer, you are on the right track.

It has everything to do with the currents. Connecting the clocks is also not a diagnosis. Functional clocks can eat electricity in A6 C5.

And if you want to. At least I can give you confirmation that I saw it a few months ago when a customer complained about the battery. The current consumption was something like 400mA - on the disconnected radio.

400mA will not discharge the battery in 3 days ... unless you drive this car for "rolls to the store". Plug the meter into the place of the disconnected fuse, lock the car, leave it for a few minutes and then look at the reading.

case resolved it was the fault of two batteries and it confused me because one and then the other one died and they were not old batteries. about 3 years old but from the Chinese ones, I have now set up an old 5 year old from Varta and it's great, the starter is spinning like crazy and the glow plugs heat up shorter it may mean only one aku Chinese are deceived and don't have as many amps as I write, so thanks for advice and sorry for the confusion

They check the batteries at truck parts stores and give the tester a printout for free. Personally, I think that for the average Kowalski such a piece of paper is not one hundred percent reliable, but you can give it to the mechanic for inspection. I don't understand why anymore. The second time, do not use the light bulb method in this way, because it is a complete failure to respect a number of rules related to electricity in vehicles filled with electronics. Only the ammeter used as intended and wait until the power is released. Some relays, whether mechanical or electronic, last quite a long time.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a battery discharge issue in a 1999 Audi A6 C5 2.5 TDI Quattro Automatic, where the battery drains within three days. The user identified that the clocks are consuming 0.40 A when connected, while disconnecting them reduces consumption to 0.01 A. Various responses suggest checking for proper module sleep, verifying current draw after a period, and caution against using incorrect diagnostic methods that could damage the vehicle's electronics. Ultimately, the user resolved the issue by replacing faulty batteries, which were found to be of poor quality, with a reliable Varta battery, leading to improved performance.
