    Hello.
A friend has a laptop, a MacBook Pro 1226, the condition before checking was unknown. The MagSafe power adapter flashes red when connected, sometimes this LED in the plug had a pale green glow and over time it began to flash orange more and more. On this basis, can you determine what may be damaged in the laptop?

    Green LED = charged battery
    Flashing orange = charging
Red = does not bode well (is it really red?).

Red, maybe orange. Battery removed so it's not charging

Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) Link
    Look at Link

It will not help, you must think about the service

I will not do the reset because it does not even turn on. And the way with holding the power button 5s I tried.
It is an old laptop, so it will not pay off for a service, if you could only say a few options what is damaged, I could try to do something.

Give the plate number, write what equipment you have.
Additionally, describe your experience in diagnosing MB in 5 words.

Have you checked on a different power supply?
Check the behavior when turning on without SMC - disconnect magsafe, press and hold power, connect magsafe, release power, press power like when turning on normally.

I'm not a specem, equipment typical of a hobbyist electronics.
The power supply is not the fault because another laptop worked on it.
Board marking written on the laminate: 820-2101-a
Marking on the sticker (stuck on the DVI socket): MB7010B13182

PS. after connecting magsafe to the power board itself (left), the magsafe diode glows pale green and when I connect the matrix backlight in turn, the motherboard is still like that. And when everything is connected and magsafe is connected, it flashes orange.

The SMC does not detect the power supply. That is why it is so. If you are not an Apple repair specialist, you will not be able to do it.

    Yes, no reaction.

    EDIT
So I understand there is no simple answer to the question "what could have gone".

Charging> lights up orange, .. without Aku, lights up green
You have 3.3V on the button,> after pressing it goes to 0V?
Nap. do you have duty on your chokes? (TPS51120> see datasheet)
    * pin.9 / pin.10 >> 3.3V and 5V.
    - see sign.EN1 / En2
    - measure ISL6257

    If you don't, start with
    - 19V checks on LIO 820-2102.
    - then on IC LT3470> pin 5> choke ... power supply KBC H8S / 2116 BGA

Can be prophylactically "blowing" on the NV chip (G84-603-A2)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a MacBook Pro 1226 experiencing issues with its MagSafe power adapter, indicated by a flashing red LED, occasional pale green glow, and increasing orange flashing. Users suggest that a red LED typically indicates a problem, while a green LED signifies a charged battery. The author mentions that the battery has been removed, leading to the conclusion that the laptop is not charging. Suggestions include resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and checking the power supply with another device. However, the author is reluctant to pursue service options due to the laptop's age and seeks potential damage diagnoses. Further technical insights point to possible issues with the SMC not detecting the power supply, and various voltage checks on components like the TPS51120 and LT3470 are recommended for troubleshooting.
